Overall I am impressed with this WiFi dongle. I bought it to use on my W10 laptop but that had developed a problem in that it would not boot or even enter the Bios after a Windows update. I therefore tried it on my Tower PC currently running Ethernet. After plugging the unit in I did not see the Autoplay option allowing me to run the embedded driver so I downloaded it from the Brostrend site. I was expecting to see the driver for the AXE5400 but the only pictures similar to the dongle were the AX8 or the BE1. Clicked on the picture of the AX8 and the screen identified as the AXE5400 which is apparently Model AX8, why the two names I am not at all sure. However I downloaded and installed the driver and rebooted. I fired up control panel and in "Network and Sharing" I clicked "Change Adapter Settings" and saw a WiFi adapter "Realtek 8832CU" but no Brostrend adapter! As it was obviously the AX8 as I had no other WiFi adapter I enabled it and connected it to my Routers 5G WiFi. I also disabled my Ethernet connection. I then ran Speedtest and achieved a download speed of 134.2Mbps and an upload speed of 20.5Mbps. To compare I then disabled the WiFi adapter and enabled the Ethernet and repeated Speedtest. The download was 127.4 MBps and the Upload 20.4 Mbps. That was not expected. The tests were repeated on both setups and similar results were achieved. I am not a network GURU but assume that the hard wired system is slower as it is passing via an 8 port Network switch. I have been running the unit for a while on the Desktop unit with Ethernet disabled with no problems and excellent speed. I look forward to using it on my laptop once I can sort the boot problems! I will then check the range of the unit and report back.

1/5 – Very Disappointing Experience I really regret buying the Brostrend AXE5400. The reliability is terrible – it constantly disconnects, sometimes several times a day, making it nearly unusable for work or streaming and gaming. The drivers are a complete mess: outdated, and with very little official support. Troubleshooting is a nightmare since the documentation is vague and the support team doesn’t provide clear solutions. For the price, I expected a stable and modern device, but instead it feels half-baked and unsupported. Save yourself the frustration and go with a more established brand – this one just isn’t worth the headache.

Swapped out an old WiFi dongle that was struggling and this one is a huge improvement. Setup was straightforward and I’m now seeing speeds close to what my fibre broadband provider advertises. Day and night difference compared to before — went from 2 Mbps to around 500 Mbps. Worth it if your current adapter is holding you back.

This wifi 6e dongle is a fabulous buy at the price point. I'm getting 2001 on speed on my local network. I like the look and build is good quality. I did however have a wee bit trouble installing the driver but after completely removing it and starting again it is working beautifully. When I purchased the dongle it did say windows only. For all Linux geeks I can confirm RTL8188UQ is a chipper that does not work on Linux so therefore be aware windows only! Delivery was super duper fast and the box was sealed brand new as described. All in all this was a great buy saving over 50% less than other dongles at the higher price point on same spec. Having wifi 6 on 6ghz yotally opens up the performance of devices on the network. Thanks guys.

Unfortunately I should have looked at the review. I have a Windows 11 Desktop, standard build, and it keeps just disconnecting. Looks like a very poor driver..

I purchased the BrosTrend Wi-Fi AXE5400 adapter two weeks ago, and it has performed quite well. It connects at speeds close to my router’s maximum throughput and significantly outperforms the older BrosTrend AC1 model I bought a few years ago.
