Lost password and recovery password on daughter’s uni macbook pro 2012. Used this to rebuild fresh. Worked perfectly. Slight confusion on the last stage but that was me miss reading the exit disk utility instruction. Now upgraded to monterey nit bad being it was only at mountain lion originally. Yes if i had another mac i could have created this usb pen, which I haven’t, why waste my time when i now have this forever. Definitely 5 stars

Upgraded safely :) very happy. My Mac book Air was too old to upgrade to Big Sur but this product includes several different versions of OSX, so I successfully upgraded to High Sierra instead (from what I previously had - Sierra) . Is easy to do, just have Mac powered off, then turn on while holding the key which says "alt" (the "option key"). Then you choose the OS X version you want, then you are prompted to choose your WiFi connection and enter the Wi-Fi password. (Probably not needed if your internet is wired Ethernet, not Wi Fi). It took me about 41 minutes to finish. You can also choose to wipe your Mac if you want and then do a fresh install or use this if your hard drive is blank or it hasn't got an OSX on it (but if you wipe a hard drive be careful as you will lose all your photos, files etc and won't be able to get them back, so you need to back them up first onto a portable hard drive or another Mac). There are brief instructions on a piece of paper that comes with the USB stick, and also it has an email address for a real human you can contact for help! :) I recommend. Stupid Apple made it so that because my Mac is old, I cannot login with or create a new Apple ID successfully, so I can't access the app store to upgrade OS X and other apps. This is the only solution other than if you can find a copy of OS X online and download, but Apple no longer made the ones I wanted accessible, and I couldn't find elsewhere. You may be able to find elsewhere online, but there is always risk of downloading a virus. So thank God for this solution because so many things no longer work with very old software, so I had no choice but to upgrade my OS X somehow.

Brilliant product, works perfectly, my old Mac Book Air is now running, as an Apple user this is a must have for emergency , very pleased with this product.
