A fascinating book (mostly)
This lavishly illustrated book contains a wealth of fascinating information such as why the colour blue is so rare in Nature and how different animals manage to produce this colour. The best chapters are undoubtedly those on animal vision and the multitude of ways in which animals use colour either to attract a mate or scare a predator. If I have any criticisms it is that many of the photographs lack depth of field and/or adequate resolution to justify a double page spread. Also I found much of the last section titled 'Color in Human Life' pretty irrelevant. If I wanted to understand how Edvard Munch used colour in his paintings I would have bought a book called 'Color in Art' not 'Color in Nature'.
