I hammer on the left controller and after two years the drift became ridiculous and moving forward was choppy. I have only tested for 5 minutes so far and it is like a brand new controller. It’s back to the top of the leader board for me.

I had a broken joystick on my quest 3 controller, only seemed to work on diagonal motion and shaky. After replacing it using this kit, the controller seems to work great, hence 5 stars. That said, I’m a former professional IT/electronics service person. This job was not hard but it’s not trivial. I highly recommend you first search for a “quest 3 controller tear down and assembly” YT video and see what the job requires. On the plus side, this kit has all the necessary tools and it worked well. With a bit of care and patience, then most reasonably handy people with good eye sight (or good glasses) will be able to complete the job without big problems. I’d expect it to take 0.5-1hr if you are being careful and but are generally handy. The experts are probably able to do it in 10-15min but that’s not reasonable without much experience. One last note, the videos I found did not have the most recent vibration unit in the handle of the controller. I almost tore the cord on mine not realizing this fact. If you find a video that doesn’t show this part, you can still do it but use extra care, or try find a more recent video than I did.

After going through all effort and tedious detail of taking apart and oculus 3 controller, I installed my first transducer and put it all back together. The thumb control didn’t work. I had to take it all apart again and tried another one and it worked. How completely frustrating it was to have to do it twice, it is not an easy process especially when your eyes aren’t what they used to be…. I’m returning the entire thing as I can’t reach the seller.

Price and quality decent. Not rating full 5 stars cause these are NOT the updated switches like the post claims, but they do work as intended.

So it’s the parts you need and the tools you need at a great price. Be prepared that this is not an “easy” repair and that you need a good working space with a bright light and you need proper glasses or great eyes and a steady hand. There’s a ton of videos on YouTube to follow along with and I recommend just setting up your phone or tablet with a how to video and just pause it as you go. If you’ve never done this before then expect it to take a good hour each controller with some challenges putting the plastic case back together so that everything fits correctly and that the triggers work correctly and don’t get bound up. I have the Oculus 3 controllers.
