Einhell BG-EH 6051 600W 510mm Electric Hedge Trimmer

This is the 2nd hedge trimmer I have owned and I'm very disappointed. I bought it some months ago, but only used it for the first time yesterday to trim a privet hedge. If I could return it now I would. I thought it would be a safe bet to buy a German product, but not so. Even though I have only used it for about 20 mins (in short bursts) to trim a hedge, the smell of burning from the motor is extremely disturbing. I read the instruction manual to see if I was doing something wrong and there is one possible clue in that it has a safety-brake to make the blade stop instantly when switched off, which can emit 'an odour', apparently. But this cannot explain why the motor permanently has a burning smell. I feel nervous to use it now and am expecting the motor to pack-up completely next time I try and use it. I wish I had bought a bosch instead.

This trimmer has a lot of power, and is extremely useful for trimming our overgrown hedge. It is fairly lightweight (I am small in height and stature), so after about 10 minutes for me, I have to have a rest. My husband however finds it light and easy to use. It easily cuts through branches and is simple to use.

I PURCHASED THIS TOOL June 18TH 2013 IN THE FOLLOWING YEAR I USED IT TWICE IN MY SMALL GARDEN, & IT PERFORMED PERFECTLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS - AFTER THE ONE YEAR GUARRANTEE RAN OUT I USED IT AGAIN BUT IT LASTED FOR A VERY SHORT TIME AND THE MOTOR FOR NO REASON BECAME OVER HEATED.- I STOPPED IT ALLOWED IT TO COOL BUT IT DID NOT RE-START I CONTACTED AMAZON WHO SAID IT WAS ONLY ONE YEAR COVER BUT THEY GAVE ME THE MANUFACTURERS ADDRESS FOR THEIR HELP SO I WROTE TO THEM SAYING I WAS DISSAPOINTED & WOULD THEY PLEASE COMMENT / OFFER REPLACEMENT OR DIS COUNT A NEW SAME TOOL THEY DID NOT REPLY & I NOW NEED A NEW TOOL & WOULD BUY AGAIN IF THE COVER WAS FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR--- MANUFACTURER PLEASE REPLY OR MISS A SALE !!!

i have received my trimmer today and find it to be an excellent tool ,it cuts smoothly and quickly ,the good length of mains cord is very useful. have just cut20 yards of beech and am impressed with the result

I bought this product in advance of Spring, so I'd be ready for my 25m privet hedge when it showed signs of life.Last week I got round to trimming it – a total of 75m including the topgrowth – and the Einhell went through it all like a knife through butter. I completed the task in half the time I took previously, using other makers' products.It is so well designed: robust, simple to operate and stable to handle, with a narrow central shaft, a mounting plate built into the body, and generous cable length.Really excellent.

Einhall Electric cutter 600W is a well balanced hedge cutter which cuts and shapes hedges with ease. It is not too heavy to use safely. But like most cutters it must be operated with a mind to safety with particular regards to the trailing lead.

This is the second Einhell hedge trimmer that I've owned, the first just got too old and was a first rate machine, I hope this one lasts as long and works just as well

I bought this for my husband, he thinks its fantastic & is looking for hedges to trim, well worth the money.
