Great fly mask as well as eye protection.
Excellent product to protect eyes from sun plus are fly proof. One thing to note - the buckles end up very close to the ears and aren't adjustable in that respect. The molded eye protector piece also holds mask away from eyes but doesn't look funny. Very durable, easy to wash and plastic buckles are holding up well.

I’ve bought 5 👍
Great fly masks that really stay on for weeks. While they are not completely escape proof, these fly masks are still the best ones I’ve used for my Houdini horses. I’ve had all mine for 3 months now and out of the 5, I’ve only had to throw away one from ripping. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because I do have to make some alterations when they come in. Tips, tricks and alterations to improve it: The major negative is that the visor is made of a black foam that gets very hot and despite the holes, is not breathable, my horses foreheads were drenched in sweat in this if it’s over 90°F or humid. It REALLY traps the heat in. The solution: I get a razor blade or box cutter and cut the foam out, but leave a little of it along the seams. I actually like this because it reinforces the points to stay off their face. Another thing I do is cut the straps shorter after fitting it to the horse. After that I burn the ends with a lighter so that they won’t fray. I do this because the straps are very long. If you don’t cut the one under the throat shorter, I had mine step on it while grazing and break the buckle. Luckily the buckles are replaceable. The company sells the breakaway buckles, but really they can be replaced with any 1” plastic buckle and they will crack under pressure, so I buy a cheap pack of those as back up.

Get it, it works
My pony lives in this thing. She loves it. I purchased her from some evil jerk who had her face so red and sunburned it was scabbed over and the previous owner complained she “was a bad pony because she didn’t like to be caught” Well, duh. Her white face was the beet red standing in a no shade hard dirt paddock in the middle of the west Texas desert. I bought her just to help her and she nickers with pleasure when it’s time to put her sun visor/mask on. Her skin is healed and she looks great. This visor (and appropriate shade) protect her from the summer sun here in Texas. It’s easy on and off and she doesn’t manage to get it off herself, even though she goofs off a lot with the other big ponies/cobbs in the pasture Huge win. Will help slow down the melanoma I’m sure she’s going to get after the abuse she suffered.

Sturdy
It is NOT mule proof. My mule has managed to get this mask off of her face multiple times. I bought it primarily for the UV protection as she is a white Appaloosa mule with pink eye lids. I was hoping it would also be harder for her to remove and or destroy as she tends to do to fly masks. I’ve given up on using it for her and will give it to my old gelding who is much less destructive. As far as quality though, she has gotten this thing off part way multiple times and I’m convinced it’ll be destroyed each time. She’s has been unsuccessful no matter how hard she tries to destroy this thing. One thing I hadn’t expected that is a huge plus, although it’s black with a high UV protection, you can still see their eyes. That’s fantastic for keeping an eye on eye health and condition without having to remove the mask to see the eyes. It also makes me feel better about their being able to see at night. I had planned to try the mask out on the mule because I worry about the sun’s affect on those pink lids and then if I was happy with it I’d start ordering them for the others in the herd over time. I probably won’t outfit the entire herd with these fly masks, but I will be using it on my gelding since the fly harass him day and night causing his eyes to swell and get irritated. With his visibility not being hindered much at night, I’ll be able to let him where the mask day and night keeping his eyes protected all of the time. I gave the mask four stars instead of five because in the description it says they can’t get the mask off of their faces. Since my mule proved otherwise I don’t feel it deserves five stars. Other than that it’s a great product.

Great Mask
My boy is 39 yrs old and I just bought him his second one. The picture is the first one from the same company. He loved it. Lasted just shy of 3 yrs after daily use. It was rinsed ever night when he comes in to his stall for the night because sometimes he rolls and gets it dirty. This past year I sowed a new Velcro strap on it for better hold and it was like new. I will keep it for a back up just in case. The new one is made with a chin strap the first one did not have. It can be cut off if desired. I love the way it sits OFF of his eyes and is kinda padded in that area. He loves that as well. He never had an issue putting it on his face He suffered from uvulitis and went blind in his right eye and that was when I found the first one for him Just wish I bought it sooner!! And he looks so cute with it on !! Fits perfectly and stays in place .

Nice UV protection, but...
Love the UV protection, but not the straps. I am not comfortable letting my gelding wear it in pasture where he could get hung up. Breakaway straps are not always going to break away. I have witnessed a bad incident where they did not give. Thank goodness I was there... My solution was to cut the throatlatch off. Since then, mask has only come off when velcro becomes gummed up and is less sticky. Truly wish they would offer a design without straps. All horses are not houdinis. :)

Fantastic mask! Such a game changer!!
My coming 6 year old AQHA mare is completely blind in her left eye after an accident at the trainers as a 4 year old. Last summer she developed uveitis in her right eye and has basically went completely blind despite everything tried. With this and her Smart Pack supplement, she's able to maintain enough vision to safely make her way around and be the happy mare she's always been. This was a game changer for her, especially since she's has always been a houdini and was able to escape a mask faster than you could get it on her!
