They bend, they're flexible. They're reasonably thick though -- they're not the lightest of sleeves.

The manufacturers website says they are "100% Archival Safe, Acid-Free, PVC-Free, Clear Polypropylene"

Are they thicker than penny sleeves?

yes, especially compared to ultrapro sleeves (i used those before switching to these).
