Perfect!
Bought this for my campers this summer. They all loved catching cicadas in it and getting to observe them! It has so many different pieces that many kids can all play at once. Perfect for a summer of bug catching fun.

Really neat kit for kids - great gift !
My son got this for his 5th birthday- it's exactly right for his age and it is easy for him to figure out all by himself. The pieces are all well made with excellent details and are really quality material. The puzzles are an awesome way for them to discover the life cycles themselves so it can be an independent toy ( which is great for all parents !) I also learned a lot about ants and bees life cycles which I never knew before. This is fun for him and he likes to show his 2 YO brother what they are and explain them to him. The butterfly catcher is ok but the container with the detachable magnifying glass is the clear winner- he carries it around like a pocket watch and whips it out to investigate what he is seeing. It's pretty cool and really piqued his interest in outside and the science behind the world he lives in.The quality and the thought that went into this set is great. This would be a great gift ( was for us!) And it comes with a travel case and bag so we can take it camping- his request - so he can see more "other stuff." This is really neat.

Nice Kit but Not Sure All of It is Useful
It is a nice kit. I got my daughter a bug box because I hadn't realized that the plastic container essentially acts like a bug box, but it's nice to have an extra. I am not sure I fully understand the point of the test tubes or petri dish, and I couldn't figure out how the holders/stands are supposed to connect together. Maybe I was missing a piece. The bug jar is probably good for look at small bugs, and the tweezers are useful. The bug habitat is a fun idea with the magnifying glass, but I am not sure the net will be useful where we are. We do get butterflies but not fireflies or anything like that. I also don't really understand the pipette. Unless we are going to be dissecting things or you have a microscope already at home, a lot of it seems silly, but my daughter often uses my tupperware for her outside activities, which I hate, so I am happy she has a variety of things to use, and she'll figure out how she wants to use them even if not how intended. Overall, it is a good kit, and if you have a microscope and a scientifically minded child, they'll really like it.

Super Kids Outdoor Kit !
So many items work with!! Every item designed to hold bugs or nature pieces has a firm closure that is easily opened and closed by kindergarten and older children. The containers are made of hard, clear plastic so items can be clearly seen. The only containers that are opaque are the three test tubes.Test tubes come with their own stand which is terrific. It is hard to do "lab" tests in the field so having the tube stand is great for outdoor patio work. One container has its own magnifier. It doesn't magnify a lot, but it is enough to help better view items. Clever and good design.Net catcher is pretty strong! Upheld lots and lots of use by 3year old and 6 year old.We used a lot of items in our shallow field creek with lots of rocks and plant debris. All items held up, no breakage. Made for terrific day of exploring and investigating!

Super fun for a budding scientist
I have grandchildren and with kids come bugs. This set had been really fun for them and very educational. We have caught pill bugs, beetles, caterpillars, crane flies and moths. And the plastic cage was a nice house for a small Texas Brown Snake for a day. The set comes with small cages to observe bugs and magnifying glasses to look at bugs and flowers and other things in nature up close. I really like the little scissor-like tool that has the two clear plastic cups on it. It catches even flies if you are quick. There is a little bug book that has pictures of bugs, and shows which ones you would not want to catch like spiders and bees. It’s a fun toy and educational, very well made.

Perfect for the budding entomologist
This is a great little set. We got it for my son's 6th birthday because he wants to be a "bug scientist". He was very pleased with it. It's a nice quality play kit and he will be using it all summer I'm sure.

Ok starter bug kit
The large storage bug container that doubles as a housing area is a nice touch. The pipette and small petri dish have been sun to use with our microscopes but the bug jar with magnifier built in became not waterproof after a single use. This was a bit sad considering we wanted to use this set to observe the little pond that forms in our rear yard that has tadpoles each spring.

Fun bug catcher!
my 4 year old loves taking this little set outside on his adventures. He really only ever catches flys or ants, but it's such a fun kit for him! He loves the little net and bug jar. It also has a mini egg like catcher that is good for bugs you wouldn't want to touch or slower moving bugs like caterpillars. Fun set for anyone ages 3 - 8 I'd say! Would also make a great gift.
