I couldn't even pay shipping on a piece of steel to make my own platen for what this thing cost, shipped to my door! It's sturdy, it's cheap and it works! Great for slack grinding without have to take your platen backing off, which is a pain in the arse!

I built this belt grinder and I used these glass filled nylon wheels. I got it running but had troubles getting the belt to track right. Did some interweb searching and several people commented about using crowned wheels. One crowned wheel works good but more than one crowned wheel causes them to fight each other. I took the 3 smallest wheels to the lathe and turned them flat. Now it tracks just fine

Needs lots of improvement in the center where the bearings go needs to be a solid plastic center with bearings not hollow with bearings

If your like me and on a budget and you cant afford a brand new 2-72 inch belt grinder, Then you have to build your own like I did. With kits like this makes it so much easier. Really all I had to buy was the motor and the square tubbing. I tried to make my own wheels out of wood but it was really hard to get them just right. This is the perfect kit. It comes with all the wheel you need and the main face plate. All you need to do is just put the wheels on and line them up and Boom your grinding in no time. They are very smooth, they feel as they have good bearing inside the wheels. The face plate is nice and thick. I would buy this kit all day long.I highly recommend it to any one just starting out. I will post video later and show the different between the different kind of wheels.

I’ve bought this plate because I couldn’t drill and tap this kind of thing myself and have it square. This wasn’t cheap and I expected it to be completely square and true. As you can see it isn’t. It still works on my DIY 2x72 grinder but I am disappointed

The bearings were stiff causing the wheels not to spin freely. They responded quickly to the issue and have made positive efforts in the resolution of the problem.
