Great quality and sturdy design! I got hooked on metal detecting after watching a bunch of YouTube videos. After my first time going out I realized how much easier this would make my life. I haven't found anything of value but this has helped me dig up a lot of junk!

I have not yet had the chance to use the scoop yet as I just recently arrived at my snowbird home in Florida. Assembly was easy though and it appears to be of good quality and I am very pleased with what I got for the low price. I can’t wait to use it.

I've done 100+ hours of beach hunts with this scoop over the past few months. It does the job and the price point is great. After 2+ months of regular use, it shows no signs of rust or loose welds. That having been said, it's not perfect. The down sides: 1. It's heavy. After an hour or so you really start to feel the weight. Pick up a pricier scoop and you'll understand what I mean. 2. The handle screws together on stamped threads and a little bit of sand in the threads can make it very difficult to put together or take it apart. 3. It's big. When you grid, it moves a lot of sand which can wear on you. Overall, I think it was a great purchase for my starter kit. Well worth the money. The occasional user will probably love it forever. The daily user will probably upgrade sooner rather than later.

I just took this with me on a beach vacation to help me find shells. It worked great! Where we went, there were lots of broken shells visible, but the intact shells were either hidden in a shell bed under some sand, or right where the waves were breaking. I knew from the day before where a shell bed was, but it was hidden, and this let me scoop down easily and rinse it off in the water to find shells. (See video) Honestly the best part of using this for shells was standing in the water where the waves were breaking. Usually you have about a second to find a shell you like and try to grab it before a wave takes it. This scoop made it SO much easier. I could find it and scoop it much quicker, and I know for a fact it got me at least 50% more shells than I would have without it. I attached a picture of about 1/4 of the shells i found in 2 days. There were SO many good shells that i found by digging a little bit in the water and sifting it out to only leave smaller pieces. I even found two shark teeth! I have never found them before and we were so excited to get them. The only issue i had was essentially my fault. I was in saltwater, and even stainless steel can rust in it. I noticed on the second day that there was some very light rust spots on the inside of the handle. there was NO rust on the outside because it presumably dried quickly enough. It was my mistake, i should have rinsed it off with freshwater when i was done with it. Note that it didnt impact it's ability at all, but if i had used it like that for .....a month or so it might have gotten pretty rusty. No issues though, i am taking it with me on the next trip!

Just received the sand scoop with the hand and long handle. It is made of stainless steel. Appears to be made well. The long handle comes in 3 pieces. All of the pieces screw together so you can make the handle different lengths. The handle is then mounted to the shovel head with 2 screws and nuts. Unfortunately the 2 nuts are missing. I will contact Gadfish support to see if they can send me the nuts. If they do, I will update my rating. Update: Gadfish support responded in a timely manner. I had to send them a picture of what parts were missing. They sent me the two nuts that were missing, along with forty-eight more nuts. I guess that is in case I lose the first two. Changed my rating to 5 stars since support was very responsive.

Bought this for husband after I got him a metal detector. He is rapt with it and used it the first week down at the Beach. Great quality and usability is crazy.
