Essential feedback tool for wet shaving, and the case is a lifesaver
If you are new to safety razor shaving or just tired of using tiny toilet paper squares for nicks, this block is a substantial upgrade from standard styptic pencils. I was surprised by the sheer size of the 100g block; it is the size of a bar of soap and, given how little dissolves per use, I expect this to last me well over a year. The alum works exactly as intended, providing immediate feedback—meaning it stings briefly—on areas where I applied too much pressure, while instantly sealing up small weeping cuts and tightening the skin. The real selling point for me, however, is the included plastic case. Since alum is highly water-soluble, it will slowly dissolve into a mess if you leave it sitting directly on a wet countertop, so having a dedicated container to store it in is essential for keeping it clean and intact. My only word of caution is that natural alum is brittle like ceramic, so if you drop this on a tiled bathroom floor it will shatter, but as long as you keep a good grip, it is a fantastic finish to a shave.

Great product
This is a great product stops any bleeding quickly, reduces the size of pores, it comes with a case to keep the product clean. The block appears to last a long time I’ve only had it two weeks and the size has not reduced too much. The product was delivered next day. This would have had 5 stars but the product does sting. You could say that’s my fault for cutting myself but I am using a cut throat razor.

Works for me! Great for many things. Would give more stars. A bloc that works
I have used an Alum block before so I know what to expect. Good product! The problem was the packaging was broken. Not good as I use it while travelling. The seller was kind they sent a need product to me which was good of them. This product is a hidden gem. A good healing product for hair and skin. The seller was very happyful and thanks once again.

Does exactly what I need it to
Nice quality product which does what it says on the tin. I use this block every time I shave and find it leaves the skin less irritated in a matter of seconds. The way I use this is make the stone wet as well as my face (lukewarm water on my face and cold water on the stone), rub stone gently enough around the whole area I shaved, leave for a min and wash of with ice cold water. Maybe the 2nd best part of the shave besides putting on some good balm. 10/10

Does the job
Very effectively soothed any irritation after shavette shaves (I'm new to this form of shaving). It's compact and comes in a handy plastic case- ideal for wash bag. I would certainly buy it again.

Cracked and 'dissolved' on me
I had an alum block for 2-years, which I used regularly and wore it down so much I needed to buy a new one. My original brand was out of stock, so I looked to this one which on the face of it, looks great. What I found was the block had quite a few 'air pockets' in it. For an alum block, this is a terminal diagnosis. If just a bead of water is left in contact with the block, it will slowly dissolve and lose all integrity, rendering it useless. These 'pockets' inside of the block mean that if you let a small drop of water in, you are not going to be able to get it out easily, and it will eventually break down in a few weeks, which is what happened to mine. Perhaps I had a lemon though. Either way, mine broke down (despite my making sure I dried it out after every use), and I brought a different one (in fact, the original brand I usually buy) which is doing great (with no air pockets!). EDIT [04/02/25]: The seller has sent me a full refund unprompted, and so I have adjusted the review rating to 3/5 from 1/5, for full transparency.

Excellent product. The alum stone is natural, practical, and very effective. I use it as a deodorant and love how it leaves a fresh, clean feeling without strong scents or chemicals. It lasts a very long time, which makes it super cost-effective. I’ve also tried it after shaving and it instantly soothes the skin. 100% recommended for anyone looking for something natural and healthy.

I have been using this as deodorant for several weeks and it works very well with no irritation (and both baking soda and alcohol cause irritation for me). I wet the end slightly and really go at it for several seconds to each underarm covering the whole area. It def gets me 24 hours odor free. Let dry out after (don't close it in the box). Sometimes I'll double up with another deodorant after but that might be unnecessary.

I had never used an alum block before because I never cut myself much with cartridge razors. But, when I recently switched to a double edged safety razor, I remember a friend of mine who used to give me wet shaving tips saying to make sure I got an alum block for whenever I cut myself. I'm frugal, and this block had the lowest price with the best reviews. I've used it on a few shaves. It seems to disinfect the cuts and slow the bleeding really well. And, it never requires much. I have a feeling it will last me a long time, and I like that.
