Really Impressed
Firstly, the size. Brilliant, it's actually a genuine 'large' size. While it's actual capacity is more, the pan easily holds 500ml of liquid on a level surface, still with 'some' room to spare. This means any regular 400g tin of food can be done without too much fear of it 'bubbling' over and escaping. The build quality is superb. Its a rigid shiny stainless steel, which will resist the worst of dents and scratches, keep its shape even with years of life on top of a hot stove, and also make washing it clean a breeze. The clasp secures the 'lid' very well and a built-in loop can be folded 'in' to keep it out of the way, or 'out' to hang it up, even when the pan and lid are joined. The handle also has a 'hanging' hole. If you 'thread' the loop over the handle and rest the lid on the handle with one end 'under' the hinge you 'join' the pan and lid so you can use 'them' virtually 'one-handed'! (see photo). The full length clasp/ folding handle offers very good grip and defence against a hot stove and pan. Very strongly riveted on, this, and the good hinge, are never likely to work loose. Practical enough to cook rice in the pan first, then put it in the lid to 'fluff', while cooking up a decent 'sauce' in the pan. The feature that impressed me the most was the quality of the rolled 'bead' rim. All the way round both the pan and lid. This will help with rigidity and keeping its shape over years of rough use, and no possibility of any 'nasty' sharp edges. Overall, very pleased.

Good quality food standard stainless steel
I quite like the Goatland products if you season them like your Nan would have done years ago when we had non-stick products you'll be surprised at just how well they work the main thing you need to remember is to keep it lightweight it is thin stainless steel so you need to keep it a reasonable distance from your flame for even cooking if you're having to cook in your tent you can use the dish on the top to stop the spitting that you get say when you cooking some bacon I like the way that the top can also be used as two separate dishes so let's use for example we want some scrambled egg and chopped tomatoes in your fried breakfast whisk your eggs up in one side and chocolate tomatoes on the other side while you're cooking a bacon and a sausage in a pan and of course the other great thing with it being stainless steel you can just hang it from your backpack you don't have to worry about putting away in something in taking up space and if you're in an area where you have little water supply you can use anything from wood shavings sand even mosses and grasses to clean it up rather than wasting what little water supply you might have the beauty obviously is with its clip handle you could put your sausages and bacon eggs tomatoes little tub of olive oil in a bag sat inside small Trick of the day if you want to carry some eggs in there and you just have it hanging from your rucksack you don't want to arrive at your destination to find the break so stick a bit bubble wrap around the egg and in any void to stop it moving around and breaking

Good camping kit — sturdy and practical, but with a few small flaws
I’ve used the Goetland stainless steel mess kit during a few camping and outdoors trips now, and overall it delivers well for the money. The 304-grade stainless steel feels genuinely durable — nothing flexed or bent even after a few meals, and it has held up well against heat when cooking over a campfire. The design (plate, mess-tin, handle, etc.) is practical and compact enough that it’s easy to carry and store in a backpack, which is exactly what I look for in a camping set. One of the things I like is the simplicity: no unnecessary bells or whistles, just straightforward plates and containers that do the job. Cleaning is fairly easy after cooking — food doesn’t cling badly, and the steel wipes down without too much scrubbing. That said, because it’s all stainless steel it’s a bit heavier than some lightweight camping gear — fine for car-camping or short treks, but maybe not ideal if you’re trying to minimize every gram on longer hikes. A couple of downsides: the handle (or handles) feel a bit thin and not as ergonomically comfortable when eating or carrying hot containers — you need to be a bit careful if there’s hot food or drink inside. Also, while the set is robust, it’s pretty basic: don’t expect fancy insulation or modern camping-gear conveniences. Bottom line: if you want a no-frills, durable, reusable mess kit for camping, car trips, or general outdoor cooking — this Goetland set is a solid buy. It’s not ultra-light or premium-level comfort, but it’s hard to fault its reliability and practicality for most outdoor situations.

Stainless steel lightweight pan.
I am used to cooking on stainless. This is just thinner than my normal pans. I gave the pan side a season and season it every use and eggs slide off beautifully. I use over a fire or coal and would note that a little coal or fire goes a long way. This is not a pan to put directly on the fire or coals if you want an easy cleanup. 4-12 inches is the range over the coals I found ideal to get heat into the pan but not burn everything to cinders and control the heat/distance getting to the pan. Use oil when cooking if you want more nonstick action but the sauces that stainless steel is so well known for can still be made. The handle is awesome and I didn't find heated up during use when extended. The handle joint to the pan is gravity secured so no flipping pancakes in this pan unless you like making a mess. 😂 The mechanism to close and store the pan and plate is really good and have not failed me and is not something that worries me. It is just that robust. I happily store cooking stuff in the pan and plate set to maximise the use of the otherwise deadspace. Stick a clothe in there to minimise rattling if you go that route. If I had a small enough Bluetooth speaker that went inside it I can see it making an awesome amplifier. 😉

Bin bestens zufrieden. Gekocht wurde auf dem Omnifuel II.
