REVIEW FOR THE TALL FOLKS OUT THERE
Since there are already a lot of reviews, both good and bad, on the Sunny Stair Stepper I won’t repeat too much what you’ve already read. Most of the reviews I read were by people under six feet and under 200 pounds. Since I’m 6’6” and currently 235 pounds, I thought I would give my perspective to the other tall folks out there who are wondering if they should give this stepper a try. I was looking at getting some exercise equipment for the home, since my wife and I were sick of driving to the gym, and were also getting tired of the gym itself. We used to have a treadmill and stationary bike at the house, but got rid of them in order to declutter our office where we kept the workout equipment. As already stated, our solution of a gym membership wasn’t ideal, so I chose the Stair Stepper because of its small footprint and reasonable price. After reading the reviews, I had some concerns that I would be too big for the stair stepper and would constantly bump my knees against the cross bar. I’ve bumped my knees only a few times. I quickly got into the habit of putting by heels to the back edge of the pedals, giving my knees extra room. It hasn’t really been a problem since. Also, it’s hard for me to go fast on this stepper so the chance of me bumping my knees is lowered even more. I asked my wife if I look too cartoonishly large for the stepper, and she said not any more than usual when I’m using other exercise equipment. Thanks, honey. While small, the stair stepper is very sturdy. I thought my height and weight would make this stepper easy to tilt, but that is not the case. I can get it to rock a little only if I try to. When using it as recommended, it is very stable on the floor. I know my current weight of 235 pounds is more than the stated limit of 220 pounds, and I’m hoping it will drop soon. So far the stepper seems to handle the weight. After four days, I upped the resistance to “2.” As a few other reviewers noted, I think the resistance levels are designed to accommodate increased weight, not the strength of your leg muscles, since the first level was a little too easy. The pistons slid down too quickly. At level “2” I feel I’m getting a workout. Since I’m heavier than the average user, I think I will get more out of an increased resistance level. So far, I am getting a pretty strong workout, and my legs are letting me know it. I agree with the other reviewers who say this stepper is quick and easy to assemble. My package came with two monitors. I don’t know if that was a mistake or because a lot of customers are having problems with their monitors breaking down and Sunny thought it would just give you a spare one upfront. The only problem I encountered during assembly was a missing lock nut for the pedal. I had also read that many reviewers had a similar problem with missing hardware, so I already had my big bucket of extra hardware I’ve accumulated for over 30 years standing by. Just a minute of scrounging turned up a nut that would fit the bolt. Since the missing locknut wasn’t a problem for me; I won’t reduce my overall rating, but be aware that the manufacturer is still having problems including all of the required hardware. I hope this review helps the tall folks out there. Overall, this stepper has fit our requirements of a good workout, low price, and small footprint. I really hope it continues to meet our need. I will update my review if anything changes.

Great for the price and great for the glutes
The adjustment capability is great, Im 5’4 so I like it tall but my husband is 6’ foot tall so he likes it lower. Ease to use and I did download the app but it never connects but it dont bother me none bc I use my Apple Watch. The size is perfect for our living too area but we moved it into the garage now that it’s lava in Texas. The durability is great, handles myself and my husband when working out. the Balance on this machine is strong and sturdy. Wish I would have gotten tbe one with resistance bands bit this one works jus as great. I went from 2 minutes to 5 minutes intervals along with a mile run in between. Feels amazing.

Solid piece of equipment.
My stepper came well packaged and undamaged. Assembly was easy for me. It was minimal compared to other home fitness equipment. I don't use the digital counter. I just watch my DVR recordings and track my progress with time rather than steps. Like others stated, there should be springs or some sort of rubber stoppers when the pedals come to the bottom. I have to keep my legs "under tension" per se to keep the pedals from bottoming out and striking metal on metal. This feature needs improvement for creating newer models.

Perfect for the Purpose
I use this 4 to 5 days a week for my fasting cardio in the morning. I really like it. It's lightweight and easy to move between rooms as I like to set up in front of my TV to watch my cdrama while burning fat. Love Between Fairy and Devil with Dylan Wang and Esther Yu. I could hear your mind asking me for a cdrama recommendation, so there it is. The display on it always works and never glitches out on me. You control intensity, i.e. smaller strides vs bigger strides, slow or fast paced etc. I just wish the foot pedals were a bit longer. Otherwise it's a great at home device.

3/5 for now. Updated to 1/5
I wanted to take my cardio equipment up a notch, and i used to love(hate) running stairs when i was at my peak cardio performance. obviously an expensive stair climber would be what i want, but price and space dont allow a purchase like that currently so i rolled the dice on this. Assembly was pretty simple, it did not take me long to put together and all pieces were included first time. It works, my cardio has been lacking a lot the last couple years as has my leg routine due to various circumstances, 5-10 minutes on a fairly low setting gets my quads feeling good and my heart rate up into a good burn zone. i am a person who struggles to do things at a lower intensity, so i think i average around 50 steps a minute or so just for example of intensity. the foot rests are good, the handles are good, it honestly looks kind of flimsy but is pretty solid. i have bought some workout equipment from amazon that looks good in their pictures, then you get it and its itty bitty and honestly kind of flimsy( i personally try to stay away from products with what appear to be "gibberish" names, that seems to be a cheap drop shipping giveaway). My one gripe, and why this item is not getting 5 stars is this: after around a week of use, only 10 minutes a sessions or so, i heard a weird clicking when my right foot would be going down. after investigating i found that at the base (see picture) where a long bolt slides through the length of the base, threading into one side, was backing out on the right side. i took my allens and tightened it down after completing the workout and came back the next day. i heard the noise again, but i was close to being done so i decided to not pause and tighten it after the workout. what i noticed was, the "computer" or monitor stopped counting steps, and was not incrementing time. i am assuming this is where the magentic stuff is that counts work being done, so it just doesn't run continously. ive tightened this down multiple times and it keeps happening. with items like this, hardware usually isnt the best quality so i am worried about rounding the head off of the bolt and honestly i shouldn't have to re-tighten pieces every 10-15 minutes. my next step is to put some loctite on the threads after backing the bolt all the way out to make sure it stays put. if that works i will bump it up to a 4, and hope if i ever get rid of it i won't be the one responsible for taking it apart. Update 5/6/25 : It took me longer than expected to remember to get the loctite, but when i did my fear was found to be true. the bolt head was rounded so the allen wrench could not get a bite on the bolt. Im giving this an updated rating of 1/5. Ive seen couple other reviews with this issue, and now im out 200 bucks because of it. i cannot recommend a piece of equipment that forces you to re-tighten pieces 3-4 times in under 10 uses. i cannot recommend a piece of equipment that uses cheap hardware that loses its integrity after being hand tightened 3-4 times.

Very good workout for the price, but may not be durable for heavy use
I think I'm about 20,000 steps in on this thing, over the last 5 months or so. I'm up to about 30 minutes at a time. There's no signs of wear or squeaking/etc.. I've been playing video games while exercising, it works very well for me. I've always thought cardio was very boring until I got this. The machine feels stable to use too. The only issue I had was sweat getting onto the computer. I recommend putting it in a plastic bag, it really does NOT take much moisture at all to get in there and ruin it, it happened to me once already. I might be running this with rather high tension, because whenever I try a new, longer workout session, I get some knee / leg soreness at first, but it seems like it goes away after I do a few sessions. I was concerned that this machine was doing some weird motions that were hurting my legs, but I don't think that's the case anymore. The range of motion is good, it feels about as good as those large stair masters at the gym that wouldn't fit in the space I have. The only other complaint I have is, it would have been nice if the handlebars were a different shape, but my use case might be a little weird because I lean on them. Update: about 100,000 steps into it, the frame cracked in a very important spot, I weigh about 220 lbs, so I'm under the weight limit. Since the frame failed within the 1 year warranty, the company is going to replace it, but I'm not sure if this stair machine will really last. I was not exactly going easy on the machine, I was doing 50 minute workouts at pretty high resistance, going around 30 spm.

Good Investment
I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like this stepper. For starters, I was not enthused about the cable type steppers which display no obvious means of resistance control. In fact I questioned whether those types of machines had any useful level of resistance at all. Those cute girls on those videos don't look like they are working very hard. Also, there seems to be steppers in the $100-$200 range and then $1000 monstrosities and up, with little in between. I figured if this wears out and I like it otherwise, I can afford to replace it. I have owned this for about two months now and can say that the unit is structurally sound and sufficiently stable. I have had zero problems in terms of function or stability of the machine on my carpeted bonus room floor. It arrived well packed and undamaged, the assembly is a breeze (tools provided), fasteners are very substantial (hex key cap screws) as is the tubular framing which is 2" diameter and finished with a nice gloss gray paint job. No issues with installation and function of the timer, worked fine from the get-go. In setting up the resistance the approach I took was to increase the resistance to the point where under a normal pace and making sure to use the full travel of the cylinders, the cylinders had sufficient resistance to avoid bottoming out on the frame. If resistance is set too low for your pace/weight you will hit bottom on every stroke. For my weight and a reasonable pace I set the resistance to about 5.5 on the scale of 12 - both cylinders have identical resistance as near as I can tell. When you do double time on the machine you will tend to ride much higher up on the cylinder travel. The total range of the stepper is about 14" and I think it is good practice to use as much of the travel as possible. I have yet to experiment with additional increases in resistance, opting for longer duration in my workout for now. Your heart rate will escalate rapidly on this and if you can do 5 minutes straight the first time out you are probably in the minority. I am 6-0, 195 lbs and 65 years old, and in good physical condition, but needed better aerobic conditioning. I usually see a heart rate of about 135-140 after my second 5 minute session. Initially I could only do about 3 minutes before I had to stop and am now doing three sets of 5 minutes with a two minute break between. I get a very significant aerobic workout plus excellent low impact strength development in my quads, glutes, and to a lesser extent my lower abs and hips. From my perspective this machine does what it should functionally, and I don't know how you could get anything better for this level of investment.

Great workout!
I love this stepper! It's very hard to do more than a few minutes in the beginning, if you are not used to exercising. But it definitely works you out and gets you out of breath! Very balanced on the floor and the handles are not too short for someone tall like me (5'9).
