Overpriced a bit. But awesome nonetheless.
I purchased the Streamlight 88062 ProTac 2L-X 500 lm Professional Tactical Flashlight, Black - 500 Lumens and the SureFire Tactician High-Output LED Flashlight with Maxvision, Black. Both are very nice. But with the Surefire it just feels solid. Now having said that, I'll elaborate. With cheap flashlights, like those plastic ones from the 80's, you get that kind of spring bounce feel inside. We all jiggled it around because it made a weird vibration. The Streamlight has that at times. The tactician doesn't. The brightness of the tactician is better, more defined. The tactician body is more sleek. The rubber foot feels more secure on the tactician, and doesn't have that push click thing like the streamlight. it's like you weren't even sure you pushed it, until the light blasts forth. A panzer tank for $100+. Now the streamlight feel good in hand. It has a blinding light, not as hardcore as the tactician. It comes with a pouch, tactician does not, just a string loop. Both have pocket clamps. For 40$ the streamlight is a no brainer, but if you can afford more, go with the tactician or both, like i did. I like the tactician for a gun light. I want a for sure light on that. The streamlight would be more my go outside and inspect light or get under the hood light in a pinch. Maybe swing it into a joint on a person. It is that tough and would definitely feel confident in it for something like that. I actually have many other flashlights like a maglite for that more like car stuff or getting into a dirty place. Easier to clean off. Not so worried if something bad happens. Now I will say this about streamlight. I have their Streamlight 69430 TLR-8G on a PDW and it is amazing. Its bombproof. I like that more than the tactician. Good luck. Hope this helped.

Surefire quality, and durability!
I actually got this Surefire Tactician when I was having trouble using my hands from a nerve disorder, which has now been resolved. I preferred it because of the twist-on cap, which I found easier to use. I still use it occasionally, but have moved on to brighter lights, as I age. This light still impresses me with both it's simplicity, and reliability, and durablility. Lives up to the Surefire name, I have a few of their lights, and always impressive. They are a bit behind in actual light output, but their build quality and toughness are second to none! I do also love the MV wide angle beam. I find this much more useful in my line of work (auto tech) than most of the tactical lights out there. It's expensive, for sure, but has been well worth it!

Ready and robust, made in the USA
My last flashlight purchased was a 4Sevens Malstrom G5 rated at ~350 lumens. This was many years ago. It still works well today but I find it a little too large for carry. I researched many brands and I always strayed away from Surefire due to the higher costs. However, after watching countless reviews, I decided to spend extra to see if the value is there. I am not disappointed whatsoever. This is really compact for the output and the beam-spread (Maxvision) is wide and consistent. I mainly bought this for general purpose, but also for self-defense while traveling, especially out at night. The clip is very strong and sturdy. The controls are very intuitive and I really like the momentary switch and option to rotate the back section for constant on. The low value output settings is perfect for times when full power is not required. Overall I am very please with this purchase. There are other great alternatives, but obviously this all depends on personal preference and features. I like to buy USA every chance I get, and when the value above average, I will pay the extra price. Hope this helps.

Great light!
I use this light daily for the last almost 2 years and it's great, incredibly durable, water resistant, easy to use, bright. Be aware it will get hot if you use it continuously on high output mode but that's normal when you have high output LEDs.

Best EDC light I've owned
Excellent light for EDC. I also bought a kit to move the carry clip to the button end, which allows for a much deeper carry, with almost none of the light peeking above the pocket (highly recommended). Battery life is acceptable... I use mine a LOT, and go through a set of batteries every four or five days. Being able to swap in new batteries at a moments notice is a lot more convenient than needing to charge it for a few hours. The momentary-only switch on the tailcap is perfect for pocket carry, as it never accidentally turns on and stays on in your pocket (Those things can get hot and uncomfortable mighty quick). In short, this light is everything I need and nothing I don't. It's a Surefire, so it's built to take abuse. Is it expensive? Yes. But is it worth it? Absolutely.

Nice Unit but illumination issues.
Not satisfied After 3 weeks the illumination is dimmer. I’ve sent it back to the manufacturer for repair/exchange. When it works to its fullest capacity, it’s awesome. I’m unclear if this is a bad issue, but if the problem is corrected I’d make another purchase. It was $50 cheaper when I purchased it.

Great gun fighting light
Hands down the best gun fighting light I've come across. That said if you haven't had formal training for how to fight with a light then you might hate this one. The biggest feature that might turn you away is the tail cap. It's designed to not click-so you press it and the light is on and when you let go it goes off. It does however need a washer added to it or else it can get screwed on too tightly to the point where the constant on function gets activated in your pocket. I put a rubber o ring around it and it hasn't since been an issue. It's really bright and has great throw. Room clearing it's a little much really but still very usable. The Clip is designed for it to be carried bezel up which is great for me but isn't easy to change if it's not you. I've owned a few of these now and they do what they're designed to do with surefire reliability.

High mode very bright, but low 5 lumen mode seems less bright than 5 lumen from my Surefire E1L or my E2L. Always found the low mode 15 lumen on my Surefire LX2 Lumamax as a better setting for low. Deliver from US was really good to UK Still a better price than older models, and will fit in with my collection.

Amazing light if you need a wide beam. This is the modern L4 from many years ago except it's much brighter. I use it for camping it'll light up the whole camp site, seems expensive but I've learned that Surefire's last a long long time. I still have 15 year old ones that work like new. Cannot say that about the others. You get what you pay for.
