Excellent
This Maxamet steel is phenomenal. The edge retention is way better than S35VN, another excellent knife steel. Too early to tell how tough it is, but I didn't buy it as a pry bar. This thing is a slicer. Came hair-whittlin' sharp and remains so after a couple weeks of daily use. It feels just as sharp as brand new. The only concern I have is the prospect of chipping, but so far so good. Spyderco is known for proper heat treating their steels. I'm curious how long it will take for it to settle down to a working edge, at which point I'll play with different sharpening techniques. I'm thinking if you don't like sharpening your blades all the time, this Maxamet is a go.
