Review: A Beautiful Rendition of the Flood Story - This delightful book was beautifully written and illustrated. The realistic pictures captivate and charm children and keep their attention while the story intrigues them. It is a great story to use for Bible School or Sunday School classes. It would also be great to have at home. Review: Beautiful and accurate - We love Jerry Pinkney books, his work is just amazingly beautiful. My 1 year old is really entranced, as am I. I was delighted to see he had illustrated a biblical story, and also delighted at how true it stayed to the original. So many children's renditions kid-ify the story, and dumb it down, or nice it up, or make weird changes, or leave out the destruction. Jerry tells the story very directly and tastefully. Sure, he adds some little details, like picturing Noah holding a basket when God speaks to him, or one of his children being in charge of picking olives, but I don't feel that disrupts the story, personally.

Should give every child!
Bought this book as one of many for a mini library for my new grandchild! The best gift you can give a child is a book... give the gift of reading! Grow their imagination!

the book pictured is NOT the book!
If you notice the author on the pictured book is Anne Wilson but I am happy with my purchase. The book I received is beautifully illustrated and well writtten-true to Biblical story. And it really is by Pinkerton!

Beautiful and thought-provoking
Bought this book for my almost 4-year old for Hanukkah. I read all the reviews of the various Noah books and chose this one because of the illustrations and message (emphasizing the need to treat the Earth and others well, without emphasizing the harsh nature of the Flood). The illustrations are gorgeous and so detailed that they draw both me and my daughters in -- we spend lots of time picking out each animal and discussing all the "action" on each page. Noah's family is also presented in a very close, almost cozy way, working together and showing how they interacted with the animals on the Ark. This book will never be as "catchy" or popular as some of our other books because it's a more serious subject matter, but for a Biblical story, it is a beautiful addition to our library that we will read for many years to come.

“Great story & illustration”
Brought this book because I enjoyed the illustrator art works. I also think the story about Noah Arks is a good read for the kids. A great book for your children library.

Great Version of Noah and the Ark!
This book is very well written and accurate by Biblical standards which was important to me. It truly deserved the Caldecott Honor it has won. Illustrations are beautiful! I'm giving it to a great niece for Christmas who has visited the Ark site in Kentucky. Beautiful book! Beautiful story!
