Strong pigments and a little goes a long way....
I purchased these pigments to add some colour and interest to my resincrete projects. You get ten pigments in different colours although there are two greens. One light green and one dark green. So far I've just made a few small pieces to have a play with the colours and get a feel for how much pigment I need to create different shades of colour. I think this is going to be very much trial and error but will be much easier to judge once I get used to them. These are quite strong pigments. Just a few drops will give you a decent amount of colour. Since the resincrete itself is white though, the colours can look more of a pastel shade so extra drops are needed to create a darker colour. Having said that the colour does tend to deepen as the resincrete itself dries so the finished product will more often than not end up a darker shade than it is when you first fill the mould. You can also mix two pigments together to create a wider range of colour shades, just be sure to mix them together really well to ensure a good result. You can also marble different pigments together To create some really cool effects. The large heart in my attached photos is a really nice shade of grey which was the result of 3 drops of pigment in 50g of resincrete. I'm sure I could get a darker shade with a few more drops but I'm not convinced it will be possible to get a fully true black. I'd expect a very dark grey is as close as I'd get.Similarly, the red trinket dish/coaster was 3 drops of red pigment and produced more of a rose pink than a red. I will try again using a few extra drops to see how much redder I can get it. I added extra drops for both the green and orange items in the photo aswell as the purple in the large trinket dish and they all produced a more vibrant end colour.I expect these pigments will last me quite a while since you only need to use a very small amount each time depending on the shade you're after.Overall I am very impressed with these. Like I said, it's going to take some practice to get used to judging the amount of pigment needed for the shade I'm aiming for, but once I've mastered that, these pigments are going to get a lot of use in my projects going forward and I'll be buying more when these run out.
