Shurflo by Pentair Swivel Nut Strainer - 1/2" Pipe Inlet - Clear Bowl

Works. Filters. Easy to install and clean.

Installed with a new pump and winterize bypass valve also purchased from amazon. Works out of the box I did not need to add a gasket or O ring. Pump is a shur flo and bypass kit is camco.

Took motor home out for the first time this season only to find I had skipped a step when winterizing. I found the strainer had frozen and broke. Ordered this one from Amazon. It arrived in two days. Fit perfectly. This fall I won’t forget to drain the pump and strainer.

The swivel nut is a must so you can keep the clear bowl in the proper position. My pump is in a tight area hard to work on so I decided to replace the original hose and fitting at the tank and new fitting at the inlet to the strainer. When I tested it, there was a slow weeping leak at the back of the swivel nut. I tightened as much as I dare with plastic and it would drip a drop about every 30 seconds. Not bad but not what I want with new parts. Did some research and read where you should NOT use Teflon tape on plastic fittings so I bought some assorted O-rings and after removing the strainer, I inserted a proper size O-ring into the swivel nut then reinstalled the strainer. More tests and no leaks. I will continue testing and checking for leaks to satisfy my paranoia! The removable strainer bowl is a big plus for cleaning the strainer and weather-proofing for freezing weather.

I just used the cap, and it fit perfectly. the Oring was bad and sucking air.

I bought this to place in-line with a Grohe shower wand which was repeatedly being clogged with tiny scale from my pipes or water heater. Worked GREAT! Threads match at the wall connection. I may have added an o-ring, don't recall. Note configured this way the filter is being operated in reverse of normal use mode, so collecting scale outside the screen. Doesn't matter, still works fine. It is not continuously pressurized in this application, just when the shower is turned on. Now and then I spin off the cover, turn on the shower, and rinse collected scale out into the shower drain.

I originally bought a Shurflo 255-313 strainer that does not have the swivel nut on it and just has fixed threads. When you install it, where it stops is where it stops and that might be upside down. I bought this one because it has the wingnut style swivel fitting so you can position it right side up and tighten it up. Its purpose is to keep particulates, sand from well water, plastic shavings from the RV's water tank, whatever, from getting into the pump, and it does that just fine.

We watched a gazillion you tube tutorials while converting our campervan and all recommended this. Teamed with John guest push and fit fittings it’s been great and easy to use. Just ensure that you get the one with the connectors you need on both sides. I made that mistake the first time around.

I have a 97 ford motorhome and my inlet filter was leaking , I replaced it with this and the inlet 90deg fitting from shurflo and it worked perfectly
