Universal KDF 55/Activated Carbon Water Filter Cartridge - 10 Micron - Replacement 10 inch CTO Water Purifier Filter, (NSF 42 Certified) (1)

I purchased this as I'm in an historic lead mining district and have used lead filters for the past 25 years. KDF cartridges reduce heavy metals and are a lot more expensive than non-KDF filters. I therefore always put this in as the last in line of 3 filters I have undersink in the kitchen. The first filter is just a 5 micron particulate filter. The 2nd is a 1 micron Carbon Block (CTO) filter which saves much of the filtration of the KDF filter. I have no way of testing the efficacy of the lead removal, and have to go on its KDF rating only. If it cuts down on the lead I would be ingesting, it's helping. All the KDF filters have been in this price range for years, but they last a long time, rated for 10,000 gallons. Since I only use it for drinking and coooking water, I probably change the filter before the old one has reached its limit.

I had high hopes for this filter, since this is the media used in berkey shower filters. I got it for my whole house unit (small mobile home). You absolutely can’t run two faucets at once, and even by itself the shower is pretty much at a light drip. If the toilet is flushed the shower will barely drip. There’s no way this is rated 10gpm. Not sure how to contact the seller.

I began replacing my Watts Premier 560088 filters with these ones several years ago and the water definitely tastes better. These are also the best value KDC filters.

This filter with KDF 55 media says it filters hydrogen sulfide, but according to KDF manufacturer, only KDF 85 is rated for hydrogen sulfide. I don't know why this is advertised as a hydrogen sulfide filter? I think it works a little bit but not as good as KDF 85.
