Wonderful jars! They are quite big, but are exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate the quality of the jars, and they have been functional for fermenting foods. Definitely recommend!

Great, large sized jars and the airlocks work fantastically. Used for Fermented foods (Kimchi, sauerkraut) as well as vinegar fermenting.

These jars are quality thick glass paired with high quality silicone seals. They included spares on the silicone seals and an extra airlock which is nice as a backup. This set has all the parts you need to mechanically hold your mead, if that's what you're making. Of course for fermenting you also likely need to buy a yeast and nutrient separately. The wide mouth makes cleaning these out a breeze. I also ran it through the dishwasher and put the plastic parts on the top rack. That's probably not recommended but it worked out fine for me. The airlock fits nice and snug in the lid. I'm making mead but these jars should be fine for all kinds of different fermentation. I think 1 gallon is a great size as it's manageable and doesn't requite a huge effort to move it around as needed. As a potential tip a tiny bit of Food Grade Silicone Lubricant on the silicone ring that seals to the jar will make it operate more smoothly (but it's not needed).
