This review may read more as a negative review about McGuire polisher than a review of the Shurhold. I have owned a McGuire DA polisher for 3 years. I use the polisher on my Sea Ray cruiser so there is quite a bit of surface area to be polished and waxed. Recently, when the McGuire unit once again (3rd time) quit due to broken connection on the power cord close to the point where it attaches to the tool, I decided I had enough and decided to purchase the Shurhold. Wow, I should have done this a long time ago. From the moment I took the polisher out of the box, I could feel the distinct difference in quality. Once I began using the Shurhold, I realized that not only was the job going to be easier, it would be much better. The orbit action of the disc is 10x that of the McGuire thus doing a lot more with a lot less effort. Also the Velcro on the disc provided with the Shurhold has much better gripping action keeping the buffing pad firmly attached while in use. The only negative I have on the Shurhold (and this would be a very small complaint) is the trigger - it seems a little had to activate and push the trigger hold button all at the same time. It’s probably just something I need to get used to. I should mention that I am a huge fan of McGuire polish and waxes and still use them. I assume that McGuire does not actually manufacture their polisher and I would recommend they consider a better supplier for the DA polisher. This is the first Shurhold tool I have owned but based on this one, I would certainly buy Shurhold brand again.

Ok! So this is my first time writing a review on anything! PLEASE READ!!! It’s been a month since I’ve bought this and I use it everyday on my cars, and customers cars. This thing is amazing on how powerful it is removing paint defects! Now there are a few things to know ! The backing plate rubs, so if you want free spining then you need a washer mod. The torq22d (I think it’s called that )backing plate from chemical guys comes with a washer mod and is free spining and fits perfect ! BUT IF YOU GO THAT ROUTE, MAKE SURE TO GET A LONGER BOLT!!! DO NOT USE FACTORY BOLT WITH A WASHER MOD PLATE! YOUR PLATE WILL FLY OFF! Go and get a 5/16-24x3/4 bolt and you’ll be good to go on any washer mod plates !! Also, the backing plate that comes with this shurhold 3500 is absolutely trash so throw it away and be done with it! If your thinking bout getting the maxshine or griots, the shurhold 3500 is way more powerful, it transfers great power to the pad very we’ll! The vibration isn’t to bad, but remember that nothing will be like a rupes! But it can do the exact same thing a rupes does, in fact the shurhold 3500 will stall far less than the rupes or any other machine. Most underrated polisher on the market ! It’s great for beginners and pros ! Trust me you won’t be disappointed! And no I don’t work for shurhold
