A most haunted house

Firstly, I do believe in the paranormal and have read a lot of books, true accounts and many documentaries. But it's simple for me, I have, more than once experienced paranormal events at different times in my life. When it happens to you, no matter what, as a sand person you know it is real. It's that simple.I am trained in assisting Pastors in Christian deliverance ministry, the non-Catholic version of an exorcism. Over years i have seen things beyond evil torment both individuals and places and also seen exchanges when those dark attachments arguably made to leave.Sarah and John's story, relayed in their own words was interesting and saddening. It sounds like what they went through similar to other yellows of hauntings. I do believe their story. It has common aspects of a haunting that lines up with hundreds of others. How I wish they had called in an Excorcist or Deliverance team though. I have seen the positive outcomes of these entities being defeated by the power of knowing how to use the bible to achieve this. It's not so out there, it's been used for thousands of years.I studied the cases that the famous Ed and Lorraine Warren were involved in, truly demonic possessions and hauntings. Despite long battles victory occurred.John's depression and heaviness living in a haunted place is common. I have experienced it myself. When I've left the homes early the depression lifted. They want you to suffer. I'm not surprised it impacted their relationship. That's something I see often.The author hasn't been able to research or "test" the house but in telling their story, in their own words it's easy to read and get engrossed in. If like to know why they didn't call on the church and/or a paranormal investigative traffic help. I believe the ending would be different if they had.Any follow-up interviews with others who have !others would be a great book too. It's not a long book and I read it over couple of ours. Very interesting and I do recommend it. I'm now going on to read the authors other book.One day, maybe more things will be written about deliverance ministry which gets less coverage than Catholic exorcisms. Most would not know their local contemporary church can help. Maybe as an author I should tell those accounts.No matter what you believe, John and Sarah's experience is bound to intrigue you. We are both fascinated and afraid of things we cannot explain right? 4 stars from me. PS: I write under pen name Maxine Grey. I'd love to swap stories with the author...infact, my town boasts one of England's oldest pubs, know to be haunted.

Truly believable as it's written in an honest, not over inflated way leaving you asking questions about the couple's experiences.Did they occur for a reason, were they meant to be there?Does it still continue on?Who were these ghosts?Fascinating.

Fascinating book, bare and in the words of those there. But what a total bitch 'Sarah' was......she started it all by being selfish, blamed him and screwed him over. Perhaps negative things there were drawn like to like...because clearly some people coped better.

I really enjoyed this book, what I liked best was the fact that there was no suggestion from the author, just the accounts from the people interviewed. The format was good, making it very clear who's story was being told at the time.

Brilliantly written and superb idea to let the couple tell their own story. A real page turner that chilled me to the bone. Being a native of Pembrokeshire made this story more frightening and challenged my own beliefs in the paranormal. Look forward to reading more cases.

I've always been interested in the paranormal. I have had some experiences of my own over the years, ever since I was a kid.A Most Haunted House is really interesting and profound. Real scary. I enjoyed reading the book.

Very well and clearly written book. A true first person experience, that will have you wondering what will happen to them next.One of the best books I've read in a while.Once you've started the book, you won't be able to put it down.

It sounds scary ,sharing your home with people you can't see...we experience noises in our house ,not as severe as the young Pembrokeshire couple but we do feel we share our home with friendly spirits

Riveting! This is an intelligently-written true account of a haunting.I have never read a non-fiction account that was so well put together before. Events are described along with their effects on the living inhabitants of the home. Some attempt to uncover the source of the haunting is made and attempts to quell the paranormal activities occur without success. I look forward to reading more from this investigator!

What a great read! Loved this story. I also really enjoyed how the story was written, its style. If you believe in ghosts and even if you don't, you'll certainly question your beliefs once reading it. This is a great book to settle into with a glass of hot chocolate, not wine. You'll know why when you read it.

The Author sets out to present the events in the words of the people involved. Corroborates information with other interviews and leaves the conclusions up to the reader. Very interesting and draws you in, but does not embellish or resort to sensationalism.His Investigative approach is most successful. I would highly recommend this book. It's not terribly long, but it's a page turner.

I like the format of alternating interviews between Sarah and John, and getting each opinion. But, I think it could have been edited more because there was a lot of repetition. I believe the couple experienced everything they talked about, and I am sorry this affected their lives so drastically.

I feel for John and Sarah and am saddened by their story. I liked the interview style of writing, and getting the story with the participants own words. It is a quick but good read, worth the small cost.

Very terrifying account. Certainly not over dramatized, told in the victim's own words. Very interesting, although graphic in detail.

Found book was written quite similar to another book by same author. Very boring and dragged out. I would not recommend this book.

As a story about a poltergeist haunting, it's not bad. I even got a tingly feeling toward the end of the book during one of the accounts. That said, the writing (and/or editing) is pretty horrible. On every page there are grammatical, usage, and punctuation errors that make the reading process downright distracting, as if it's being written by a teenager who took a creative writing class but got a D in basic English.The author's bio mentions that he or she has "issues with dyslexia", and so I don't want to be overly harsh. Therefore, I have to leave the bulk of the responsibility at the doorstep of editors G. V Thomas (sic). I'm not kidding - no period after the V in the editing credit! There were no periods following the initials at all for Supervising Editor M P Conway... Maybe their folks were tired and never finished naming them?Regardless, the conversations the author "edited into a more flowing fashion for the reader" need re-editing for clarity. Try separating whole ideas into complete sentences, rather than placing a comma and running on with another whole idea. I found myself proofreading this book as I was reading it, often reading sentences two or three times before I understood where the punctuation should have been placed.G L, I can empathize with you about your dyslexia, and you obviously have stories to tell. But Please -- get yourself a good editor who can help you deliver your message clearly.

Why bother to capitalize your own book's title when marketing it? Well, this author obviously didn't and they didn't bother with any sort of editing either. The one space indent for paragraphs, which the author gave up with after about two of them and decided they didn't need them at all, should give you some indication of their abilities.I have tried several times to read this and cannot finish it. The typos (6 on page one and no title page, completely improper book format) are EVERYWHERE. It is a very hard read because it's done in a terrible sort interview format that the author made up with constant boring reiteration. The people are very unlikable. Also, the author goes through great pains to get their interviews. We know, since they bore us with the mundane details and how they, including the house itself, according to the author, (FYI author; sentence structure and punctuation are your friends, use them.) insist upon remaining completely anonymous. Then precedes to give a description of the house and it's location on page two. The couple should sue them for giving such obvious information out that they had not wanted.This 'book' could have been written as an essay on less than 20 pages with regular font and format. Perhaps less if the essay only including actual events and information.

I state that outright because I was not aware of it until I noticed the word "novel" while skimming the closing credits of the book. After reviewing the original description, it does state that it is a novel, but only once and I missed it, so I read this thinking it was factual. For me, that changes reading perspective. So be aware.The story is well written, gripping, the events harrowing and very frightening. The author's use of transcripts interspersed with author notes and comments is quite effective and adds to the nonfiction, documentary feel of the book. The book is solely about the haunting so we don't have character development, scenery, etc nor are they needed . It is fast paced and rarely lags. My sole issue is with our heroine, whom I found to be a selfish, self-centered, monopolistic, slutty cow lacking in empathy, kindness, human decency, or even plain fair play. But the book is great!Highly recommended haunted house story.

I really enjoyed this book but I got so spooked that I had to stop reading it at night and finish it in broad daylight. I recommend you don't read this at night, especially by yourself, unless you don't want much sleep.It's not a long story but the method of telling it was very effective. The author captures interviews of the people who experienced the terrifying haunting first hand, especially the couple who bought the house. If it's true I feel badly for what the couple went through even though I didn't think Sarah the wife was too nice by the end of the book because of how quickly she gave up on her marriage to poor John!Overall a very good scary read!

Wow! What an wonderful book! I absolutely could not put it down. Of course, a ton of book reviewers say they couldn't put this or that book down (and although I rarely find that I really have all that much trouble to put a lot of books down), A Most Haunted House, by G.L. Davies, was definitely one of those rare instances where my eyes were absolutely, totally and completely riveted to the printed page from beginning to end.There are no chapters to speak of in the book, and the author really only makes an appearance at the beginning and the end, so the vast majority of the story is told in the first person narrative, by the couple who lived in that most haunted house referred to in the title. There is absolutely no need for chapters or other niceties however, as the good scary stuff kicks in almost immediately, the narrative flows effortlessly, and best of all, the eery momentum keeps the reader turning the pages until the very last spooky period at the end of the very last spooky sentence.But is it really all that scary? Hmm. Well, I read an awful lot of ghost stories, so I wouldn't say it's the most frightening book about the paranormal that I've personally ever encountered. But there are definitely some genuinely creepy moments, especially near the end. So don't say I didn't warn ya!All in all, this really is a wonderfully chilling true ghost story, and I would highly recommend it to almost anyone. Well... not to most arrogant, prejudiced "skeptic" types, of course. And it's definitely not a good book for young children. Or anyone who is easily frightened, for that matter. But most inquisitive readers with an open mind couldn't help but be left pondering some very deep questions about what really happens to human consciousness after death, after reading a truly haunting tale like A Most Haunted House. Great book! And surely, one that will not soon be forgotten. And really... how can anyone ask for much more from any book?

I read many true paranormal books. I have experienced, studied, and researched locations and stories for many years. I found this book very believable and recommend it to all like readers who are curious of others personal experiences, to help understand these experiences and to cope with the possibilities that....There truly is another dimension not yet explainable.

Usually I don't care for books with this type of format where two characters describe the same events at two different times and then the author intertwines both points of view by going back and forth between the two. Each time the stories are switched the character's name is there to state who's talking, leaving no room for confusion; but I have to admit that "A Most Haunted House" made it work. The story was not far fetched, in my opinion, and was easily believable as long as you kept an open mind.I don't want to give anything away. I can only suggest that any person with even a hint of interest in the paranormal should read this and decide for yourself whether these two people, once a very happy husband and wife, really experienced these haunting events they described. Even if you are a sceptic check this short story out; you may just change your mind!I can't wait to dive into G L Davies next haunting tale, "Ghost Sex The Violation." It sounds like an even more hands on haunting than the last! The authors many years of experience truly comes out in his work. All-in-all great read!!!
