Why is it listed as pure butter oatcake, but ingredients state palm oil ?

That is an obvious error in the small description at the top of the page, likely someone has confused these oatcakes with Walker's famous "All-Butter" shortbread. Oatcakes have never been made with butter. In the "olden days" Lard was used as the shortening, today all manufacturers use vegetable oil in oatcakes. They are still very tasty and as a daily user of oatcakes I personally find Walkers to be the very best brand.

Is there any palm oil in them? No list of ingredients given.

I just went into the kitchen and had a look on one of the actual packages I bought some time ago here on amazon, and strangely enough it lists exactely the same ingredients that Mac'C listed. i.e. no palm oil, just rapeseed oil! So, why those ingredients should be different to the ingredients listed on their own website, I don't ungerstand. Maybe the recepie has changed in the meantime. What I can say though, is that these oatcakes have a great taste.

How much sugar does an oatcake contain

According to the box, one oatcake contains 0.3 g of sugar, or 2.6%

can you let me know the best before date as the last time we ordered they were stale

I must preface my answer by stating that being Scottish born and bred (and old) I eat large numbers of oatcakes. Best before date on my order, which I received on 21st September 2017, is 30th December 2017. I am half way through the last box, as illustrated, and all have been my favourite and in good condition. I hope that every oatcake in tomorrow's delivery of a pack of 12 is the same. ' Walkers Shortbread' is a name which is long familiar to me, as a 'maker - supplier' so now that I very rarely eat 'shortbread' where would I go for my high appetite for oatcakes? I hope that this helps in some way.
