I don't practice magic tricks but I do love them so when I saw this thumb and watched a few videos, I thought this would be pretty fun to get and try out. It's not an exact skin type match but certain tricks can be done easily with practice so that the thumb is not really even a focus for the person you are doing the trick for. This thumb has a built in little pencil so tricks involving mind reading for instance could be done discretely if you pretend your writing with a pencil and then put the pencil down, most people would not think you have one built into a fake thumb. It does take some practice to write with it but overall the presentation is what makes the trick work the best. Still practicing writing numbers with it before I try it out on my nieces. There are also lots of videos online to watch to do other tricks as well with this thumb. Quality is decent enough for me at least since I'm not a seasoned magician.

I used to do a lot of magic back in the day, and a thumb writer like this can help you craft some really wonderful mentalism routines. In terms of quality, it’s on par with similar gimmicks I’ve seen. The colour doesn’t match with most skin tones, and it’s rather small. It’s fine for a teen or adult with medium-sized thumbs, but it’s not going to fit larger hands. The lead is quite large and should last for some time, but I was a bit disappointed that there are no replacements in the box. At $14.22 it’s priced fairly (most similar gimmicks sell in the $16-20 range), but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to shop around a bit before buying. 3.5 stars
