Small Eco Houses: Living Green in Style

A good quality book with nice photos and the odd floor plan to explain. A little short on depth - coffee table porn

Great book about eco houses and anyone interested in the ecological approach to housing will like it! BUT the title "small" probably refers to people who are used to having a "normal" sized house of over 250 square metres (2,700 square feet), because here the author presents houses of 150 sq. metres (1,620 sq. ft) as small! There are only 13 houses of under 100 sq metres (approx. 1,100 sq ft) out of the 40 presented in this book, so if you're like me in thinking that a small house is considered to be in the size of 60 square metres and under then you'll be a little disappointed. Overall, this is a great book with beautiful pictures which explains in general what makes each of the buildings 'green' and eco-friendly. And even though the houses are a little bigger than I expected I am still happy I bought this book! :)

I am an architect by profession and purchase books from Amazon Uk. What made me make this purchase was the cover of the book, It had a promise of what was to come beyond (at least thats what I thought) Unfortunately the book does not include much inspiring work. The printing quality in architecture books should be very accurate and of good quality to appreciate the nuances of space. This book however is affordable but the printing could have been improved. No work within the book comes close to the quality of the house on the cover. PROS: 1. Price CONS: 1. All the projects look similar 2. Cheap Print quality 3. Not inspiring (at least for me)

Honestly, it depends what you're looking for. For me it was not worth the price I paid £16. Buy it second hand instead.

Nice book

Really like it. It's amazing what people have done. Nice descriptions and pictures. Lots of great ideas. I was surprised at how much is in this book.

This book provides a good survey of the types of eco houses out there, from the smallest least expensive struture to the largest. However, it does not go into much detail and in the end is little more than a pretty picture book.
