Very handy countertop hot plate.
Works great while boondocking with my RV when I am out of propane. My solar energy takes the place of grid electricity. It gets red hot while consuming about 1400 watts. I have used it for almost a year now with no problems. It does not get my countertop hot while in use for a long time, And it is well made.

Convenient burner
Great for frying outside when you don’t want to overwhelm the inside of the house. Wife complained about the induction one not hot enough to fry well. No complaints with this one.

Shuts off on its own. Can never finish cooking.
If you like cooking your food half-way, feel free to get this… the burner gets really hot at the bottom (not the coil part), and it shuts off on its own in about 5 minutes. It looks like it needs to cool itself down before you can turn it back on. It will then shut itself down in another 2 minutes. I made sure there is enough venting space underneath the burner, but it still shut off on its own. I gave up using it. Guess you get what you pay for.

Great Single Burner
I bought this single burner hotplate because the stove burners in my new apartment would not work with my little 4 cup vintage PYREX percolator. They would bring it up to a perk but then turn off and not come back on; so the perk would stop. I think it has something to do with the button in the middle of the burner not being depressed down because of the heat diffuser I have to use between the glass and the coils. Anyway, this little burner works great with my PYREX. It has taken me several uses to dial in the exact location on the dial that is the "sweet spot" so to speak. I had to really search for a single burner that was 1500w as most come in at 1000-1100 watts unless you jump into the commercial appliances which are very expensive. This little burner will have a permanant home next to my stove on the counter. Did I mention I hate my apartment stove? You can't go wrong with this little TOASTMASTER.

It delivers the heat.
I've taken up the hobby of jam making and with it comes jarring. My old two burner electric hotplate seems to be losing steam, and for jam making and jarring you need HEAT. This single hotplate does that job very well and raises a jarring pot to a rolling boil in just a matter of minutes and keeps it there. The one downside is it seems to have a pretty significant temperature dropoff from Max to just a little below max.

I love my Toastmaster! Search no further. This is the best one
Smooth and sleek looking. Smaller footprint than my other hot plate. 1500 W is the way to go! Powerful hot plate. No need to turn it up to the highest setting when boiling. It will heat water very quickly at medium. It's worth a few dollars more to buy higher wattage. More efficient for anyone who hates waiting for a low wattage hotplate to warm up. UPDATE: Another great feature is that it heats up and cools down very quickly. Convenient if you boil water for pasta and then need to lower the heat and wait for the coils to cool down before you add sauce, so you won't burn the pasta. My old hot plate was 1200 W and I had to wait until the hot plate was cooler before I could return my pot to it. The old one took 25 minutes for water to boil. This one takes about 10. I've had hot plates for 20 years, so I've seen a lot of hot plates. This is the one! You won't be disappointed
