DaneKo Danish Blue Cheese (Wheel of approx. 5.5 pounds)

I was impressed again with the quality of this Daneko Blue Cheese wheel. The very pronounced sharp flavor was everything that i like about this cheese. Packaging was first rate as it fully protected the wheel and the freeze packswere doing their job perfectly. This cheese is both crumbly and creamy at the same time. I like all different quality blue/bleu style cheeses and rate this up there with some of the best. This ia a keeper. AAA+++

This arrived packaged perfectly and completely cold still from the vendor (Spring Street Specialty Foods). Very happy with how it arrived. After slicing a wedge off and letting it warm up I was truly impressed by how great this blue cheese is. I never thought of ordering online because I was skeptical about its quality. Worry not if you’re thinking of it. I’m a huge fan of blue cheese in all its shapes and forms and this is fantastic blue cheese.

Blue Cheese can be very expensive. Sure you can go to Sam's Club and by those barely enjoyable blue cheese crumbles, but I'm talking about real Danish Blue Cheese. If I go to my local grocery store it's anywhere from $15 to 17 per pound. My wheel came out to $7.83 per pound. Not bad at all, but there's so much more to this. Even 5.81 pounds is a lot of blue cheese to store once opened. I researched a little on the internet and I decided to cut it into 8 chunks and vacuum seal till 99 percent of the air was removed with an oxygen absorber. I don't know if that will help or not. From what I've read you can freeze it, but it ruins the creamy texture. I'm going to try to keep it in the fridge. I'll probably freeze one chunk as an experiment.How does this taste? Very good. It's the real deal and there are complex flavors as you would expect. I'm very happy with the quality of the cheese, and even the shipping. They packed it in a large box with a dozen frozen gel packs. It arrived in perfect condition, which is greatly appreciated. I don't know how long it will take me to go through the wheel, but I'll probably buy it again. Why not? You only live once. If you're on the fence, just do it.Update: Ordered my second wheel, which is very unusual for me (to repeat buy something). I cut up the wheel into 7 chunks and vacuum sealed them with an oxygen absorber packet in quart bags and put them in my refrigerator drawer. They are keeping perfectly, much better than when I tried vacuum sealing and freezing. I'm not worried at all about the shelf life in the fridge now, and it's so nice to have delicious blue cheese whenever I want. You won't find better blue cheese for the money.

I will get this again… Taste and texture 5 stars. Shipping and packaging 5 stars. Heavyweight box, insulated bag, seven frozen freezer packs, in the bag with the product . Arrived Cold.This is really nice Blue Cheese. Not gross, just Blue.

Really like this blue cheese. My only complaint is that it doesn't freeze well. I cut it into several large wedges, and stuck them in the freezer. I've been taking them out slowly over the past couple of months, as 5lbs is a lot of blue cheese to go through! When the wedges thaw, they become very crumbly... which is actually great if you want to use it on salads or in homemade blue cheese dressing. But I like just enjoying a nice chunk of blue cheese now and then, so the crumpling after thawing is a bit of a nuisance. Still a great blue cheese, and much less expensive than buying those little oz wedges at the supermarket.
