These beautiful Aleppo chilis from Turkey are coarse-ground, medium-spicy, dry chili peppers. There is also salt included, though it’s not as though granules of salt are visible. I added about a half teaspoon of chilis to spice up a shrimp and grits recipe for two and it added great flavor without ruining the dish with too much heat. The 2 oz. jar has an open top (no shaker lid); it seals tightly with a screw-on lid. The “Best Before” date is 2 years in the future, and I noticed a QR code on the bottom to access some recipes with a smart phone. I look forward to using them again.

The color of the coarse ground peppers have a truly vibrant red that is really beautiful to look at . I love this as a rub on meats or sprinkled on soups and noodles and pizzas and such. It has a touch of salt as well which might be a turn off for those who have strict salt requirements, but I find that this adds some dimension to the heat of the pepper and makes the dishes more flavorful. I have no reservations regarding this Aleppo chilli.
