They come with a hinged lid and a clip on the front to hold the lid closed. I'm unsure of the longevity of the hinge, as it is just plastic, but I did open and close the box 100 times and there was no degradation to the hinge that I could see. The clip does hold the lid closed, but fill it with nails and drop it on the floor, as I did, and you'll have nails everywhere. I found the clip a bit tricky to open too and had to be careful not to spill the contents when doing so. At £1.50 a box they seem a little pricey but they are well made and worth looking at if you have a use for them.

Ideal tool for organising stuff!

These LJY brand of 12 small lidded boxes in white frosted plastic measure 115 mm long x 85 mm wide and 28 mm deep. They are ideal for all sorts of craft and DIY storage, including keeping all those bits and bobs tidy in the ‘man drawer’ in the kitchen. I’m using mine for my sewing and machine knitting accessories, they’re especially useful for thread storage and bobbins, but also good for pins and sewing machine feet etc. In machine knitting there are several little tools like transfer tools that can easily get misplaced, but these handy little boxes keep them safe. They’re small enough to fit into a craft bag and can stack to go onto a shelf for keeping various screws handy. They are really useful, even for storing pet dried treats. I’ve washed them in the dishwasher and they come out just fine. If they seem to bit stiff to open, don’t worry they get easier to open with use. I'm a bit of a stickler for order and can never have too many plastic storage boxes. I use them everywhere and for all sorts of uses including storing vitamin pills, old SD cards, toothbrush heads, screws, washers and picture hooks etc. I find them particularly useful in a confined space where they can be labeled and stacked. There's nothing 'wrong' with these ones but by design, the features that are supposed to enhance them actually make them less successful. For example, the plastic clip that holds the lid on is secure but to the extent that if you fill the box with screws or sewing needles for example, you end up spilling them over the floor due to the force required to open it. The moulded hinges are great for holding the lid on but are really very thin and may not last too long. If these split, there's no way to keep the lid on and the box is rendered useless. Compared to storage boxes with removable lids, I find these to be considerably less practical. As I said, these boxes are merely okay; nothing special about them but nothing too bad either. I have to say though that the last set of boxes I bought were twice as thick, double the quantity yet less than half the price.

I tend to be an organizer and then a reorganizer until I am happy with results. Drives my husband batty (LOL) since I seem to have the need to find just the right place to keep things and just the right container if need be to store it in. (Of course it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.) There always seem to be a thousand of little items that need sorting out: Beads & seeds, pins & needles, pen & pencils, chalk & crayons, cards & ribbon, elastic & string, tape & ties, labels & stickers, dice & game pieces, floss & toothpicks, Band-Aids & gauze, face masks& filters, nuts and screws, fuses and flotsam, brooches & bracelets, bobby pins & hair clasps, watches & rings, notes & all those other little what-nots. This is where these flatter rectangular plastic containers come in handy in the craft room, kitchen, garden shed, bathroom, vehicle, tool box, ATVs….and yes even husband domain of the garage. Like that the lid remains attached and not constantly search for one to fit. They are stackable or can side by side. The one latch is Ok but would be nice if there was two for extra safety. Boxes are semitransparent so not always a need to put labels on them. Never seen our “junk” drawers are tidy as they are now. In fact are going to need more since 12 is definitely not enough.

They’re the perfect size to hold a box of crayons! They’re great to help organize student materials & they’re sturdy. The only reason I took off a star is because they’re a little tricky to open & students struggle with the little latch.
