The walls are pretty thick. It was packaged in a box, and padded with paper. You can tell it's not "super high quality glass" but, to be honest, I'm pretty sure it will do the job well and survive shipping 90% of the time. The stem is fused to the cone, the stem is on a 45 degree slope. There's a minor nick in the glass near the stem. It's fine, it will do what I need, but I can see how some people with specific needs might want to pass on this.
