My first foray into mushroom cultivation and with the magical lions mane. I am taking lions mane tablets to improve memory and focus for study and work and decided to cultivate them as a meat alternative as seen in Instagram and the like. Delivery was fast and I opened the package as soon as it arrived as it is alive and cut the small cross in the plastic wrapping and placed it in a room that was warm and filled the spray bottle with filtered water to remove all chlorine. I also put my fridge thermometer on the box to keep an eye on the temperature. This is the result after just over a week. The mushroom is starting to peek out of the substrate pushing the plastic away from it allowing more water in when I lightly spray it with 5-6 sprays every 3 hours. The mushroom has travelled with me as I have travelled to continue the regular watering and so far all is good. I recommend this fascinating kit and this way to try a mushroom that is so rarely found in the wild it has legal protection! Apparently when dry fried it tastes delicious! Like seafood or steak depending on how its cooked! Once I harvest this mushroom I will repeat on another face of the substrate block by removing it and turning it 90 degrees and repeating the process as many times as I can until the substrate block is exhausted. I’ve never grown mushrooms from a kit before and I’ve never tasted lion’s mane before. My experience with this Large Lion’s Mane Growing Kit has been totally positive. After cutting the cross slots into the plastic bag, I misted regularly once an hour for two weeks (daylight hours only!). The crop-size was larger than I had expected or hoped. Fantastic looking quality-wise, too. I just fried a portion in butter and ate it with scrambled eggs and it’s one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. I’m definitely going to try for a second flush! I strongly recommend this product :)

Second purchase of these and they are awesome work out expensive but brilliant to watch them grow

I bought this to begin growing these myself after having to stop using Lion's mane as a ready bought supplement when I was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. The ingredients couldn't be fully medically verified and ruled out as a possible cause of my thyroid function changing. Upon choosing this kit, I carefully read the available information and decided to buy. It arrived in good time and the kit looks good. What I am disappointed about is the fact that the listing says nothing about having to start the kit within a week or so of its arrival. I had a holiday booked on for 10th to 14th of August, the kit arrived with a label saying it must be started by the 7th of August and cared for daily - this wouldn't usually be a problem but without having to take it on holiday, it meant I had to set it off and basically leave it un-attended with no choice. Being entirely new to this, I have no idea if leaving it beyond this date would be a viable option so the only thing to do was set it off. I came home and it has instead grown mold. I have now wasted a kit and the £25 spent on it, purely because nothing was stated about time sensitive product. Obviously I wouldn't expect to just leave it somewhere for months and still be able to set it off successfully as it is a biological organic product that can and will expire. However, had it been made clear, I would have had the choice to wait until my return from holiday to purchase. Considering the boisensitivity of the product I am genuinely surprised that this information was not provided as I would consider it not only crucial to the viability and success of the product but also important for the buyer should they need to consider when they have the availability to ensure correct use and management of the kit. Can't tell you how good the Lions mane is as we won't be able to grow it from this.

An amazing buy, but mine where a little slow to grow as the bag hadn’t fully colonised the front section, however once I put a cling film dome over to keep humid it really started to grow. I slit the film a bit to big so I got a more spread growth but otherwise amazing buy can’t wait to harvest the first round and look forward to a second and hopefully third flush!! My second flush (growth going well I’ve added two growing holes this time and seems to be doing well :D I highly recommend a humid dome homemade or designed to help with growth and yellowing that may occur (due to low humidity)

Bought as a Xmas present - loads grew and tasted great! Quite mellow flavour.

I had 3 months fun and mushrooms . They did take a little longer than the Oyster mushrooms to start showing. They taste great.
