Reliable!!!
This is a very reliable drive; I have three and they work great in both my camera system and my computer. Since it is basically plug and play there is no issues with installation. These are not the cheapest drives but then again you get what you pay for, and these are definitely worth the little extra cost. They seem to last forever, got one that is 6 years old and is still working without a hiccup. Since these are a 4 TB drive, they actually hold about 3.86 TB of data and are pretty quiet compared to other drives I've had in the past.

Specific to digital video recording work good
This little Jewel went into what's called an NVR so it's a platform to record security video and I had one fail so it was easy enough to add this work perfect

CARFEFUL...NO WARRANTY AVAILABE
The hard drive failed after 6 months of use in my Security NVR. I went to Western digital for warranty and it was denied. The item was not for sale in the USA and so no warranty. Serial number look up shows it was for sale in Asia so warranty denied.

Reliable in NVR
I had the 2GB version continuously recording for 7 years with zero issues. Just got the 3GB now and tested OK, brand new (mfg. Sep. 2025).

I ordered this WD purple color 4TB due to its endurance of long recording of data and use it as a backup. It packed well and it works so far so good.

So far bought two WD blue and three WD purples and they all came brand new in the static protection bag and all made either in 2022 or 2023,all CMR, i will be trusting the seller for all future storage purchase
