Chain Assembly and Idler Cable, Made for Hobie Mirage Drive Kayak

Came 15 days earlier than the shorted shipping date, fits my miragedrive v2 perfectly. Everything cost half as much as I could find anywhere else and got me back on the water! Thank you very much!

It fit on the paddle drive like a glove

The fit is good. The wire seems to be slightly smaller diameter than original. The ss nylock nuts are smaller and make it a bit easier to get a ratcheting box end wrench on. As far as durability, I don’t know yet. I’ll update this review WHEN I break something.I do like Trident’s fins and sprockets. The sprockets have bearings just like Hobie MD GT’s and make a HUGE difference in friction. I think the fins are higher quality than Hobie. But always salvage your hardware from the old fins. Small parts seem to be a common issue with Trident.I’m using these items in the front seat on a 2012 Hobie Mirage Tandem Island sailing kayak. I’m a 340lb former athlete. These items will be stress tested in fresh, brackish and saltwater environments. Updates to come.

Just took out for the first time. Worked well on the test run. I have a tandem and just ordered 2 more chain drives for my wife and 2 neutral cables to complete the set. We bought it used and they are rusted out bad on connectors. Good seller to work with. I was worried he showed as newer seller but he is the real deal. Thank u much. If they crap out I will update review.

I installed these on my GT drives, which take a lot of abuse on my Hobie Adventure Island. They fit perfectly, btw. I haven't used them enough to comment definitively on their longevity, but they are obviously high-quality components. In fact, to my eye, they look to be more solidly made than the Hobie originals, and amazingly they're just half price, as compared to Hobie brand. If you buy these, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!Edit: I had these for over a year and had only used them for about 5 miles of actual pedaling, as they were on a backup Mirage drive. Yesterday, my main Mirage drive failed, so I needed to use the backup drive that has these fake Hobie chains. Within 1 mile of pedaling (and not even pedaling hard), the cable popped out of the fitting, and there is no way to repair it--a complete fail.These look great, but the point where the chain attaches to the cable is seriously flawed.

I ordered this cable because Hobie can't seem to get them. It came on time with no issues. I installed it right away and used it this past weekend. Works as advertised.I'm giving it 5 stars because it deserves it, but just a warning, it ships from Singapore. Be patient, it will deliver. It took mine 3 weeks. I can't ding a company just because they are not close by. Thank you and I'm ordering 2 more complete sets.
