A Game-Changer for Rural Connectivity
I've been using the GL-X3000 cellular gateway for a while now, and it has completely transformed our internet. Living in a rural home, our BT fibre connection was painfully slow, giving us only about 2 Mbit/s down and 1 Mbit/s up. Since installing this device with a 5G SIM, we're now getting a consistent 175 Mbit/s down and 4 Mbit/s up. The difference is night and day. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but I’m now confident it was the right call for a stable and powerful connection. One of the first things I have to mention is the support team. I had a specific question about the configuration and reached out, expecting to wait a while. They got back to me surprisingly quickly with a detailed, knowledgeable answer. It was great to deal with someone who obviously knew the product well. The device itself is incredibly well-made. You can feel the quality as soon as you unbox it; it has a reassuring weight and solid construction that makes you feel it's built to last. Beyond the sheer speed increase, the other features are what make it a truly standout product: Connectivity Options: The dual-SIM feature is fantastic for ensuring the connection is always on, automatically failing over if one network drops. It also handles Multi-WAN, so you can blend different internet sources. Modern Speeds: It combines that powerful 5G modem with Wi-Fi 6, so the fast speeds are delivered effectively to all my devices. Built-in VPN: The onboard WireGuard and OpenVPN clients work really well and don't seem to create a bottleneck, which is a big plus for security. OpenWrt: The fact that it runs on OpenWrt is a huge advantage if you like to tinker and customise your network settings. So, while it's a significant purchase, its performance, solid build, and the surprisingly good support have made me feel it's worth the investment. If you're stuck with poor broadband and need a serious, feature-rich cellular router, I'd highly recommend it.

GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) 5G NR AX3000 Cellular Gateway Router not bad but pricey
After spending some time with the GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) 5G NR AX3000 Cellular Gateway Router, I have a good sense of its strengths and potential areas for improvement. Here’s my detailed take on its quality and uses: Build Quality and Design The GL-X3000 comes with a sleek, compact design that’s both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The build quality feels robust, indicating that it can withstand regular use without issues. The device is lightweight and easy to position discreetly within a home or office setup. Setup and User Interface Setting up the router was a straightforward process. The user interface is intuitive, and the setup wizard guides you through each step. Even if you're not particularly tech-savvy, you’ll find the setup process easy to follow. The interface provides clear options for configuring various settings, making it easy to customize the router to your needs. Performance This router is designed to deliver high-speed internet, and it does so quite effectively. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with its performance: Remote Area Connectivity: I tested the GL-X3000 in a remote area with limited 5G coverage. Despite these challenging conditions, the router managed to provide impressive download speeds of 170 to 200 Mbps and upload speeds of around 90 Mbps. These speeds can fluctuate depending on weather conditions, but the connection remained stable throughout my usage. External Antenna Enhancement: Adding a decent external antenna system significantly improved performance. With the antenna, the signal strength and stability were enhanced, leading to better overall speeds and more consistent connectivity. 5G and Wi-Fi 6 Support: The support for 5G connectivity ensures that, when available, you get blazing-fast internet speeds. The Wi-Fi 6 capability allows for faster data transfer rates and improved network capacity, making it ideal for homes or offices with multiple connected devices. Versatility and Features Multiple WAN Options: The router offers various WAN options, including Ethernet and SIM card slots, making it a versatile device for different use cases. Whether you need it as a primary router, a backup internet solution, or a portable hotspot, it handles all scenarios well. Security: The Spitz AX comes equipped with advanced security features, including WPA3 encryption, VPN support, and customizable firewall settings. These features provide peace of mind by ensuring your network is secure from potential threats. User-Friendly Controls: The ability to set up parental controls and guest networks easily is a great addition. These features allow for better management and security of your home network. Cost Considerations While the GL-X3000 is packed with features and delivers excellent performance, it is on the pricier side. For those on a tighter budget, this might be a consideration. However, given its capabilities and reliability, it still offers good value for money. Final Thoughts The GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) 5G NR AX3000 Cellular Gateway Router is a high-quality device that excels in providing fast and reliable internet, even in remote areas with limited 5G coverage. Its sturdy build, easy setup, and advanced features make it a worthwhile investment. If you add a decent external antenna system, you can significantly enhance its performance, making it a robust solution for various internet connectivity needs. Despite its higher price point, the router’s performance and versatility justify the investment. Highly recommended for those seeking a reliable and powerful router solution.

Best router with 5g SIM card built in. great Gui too
I had sold the Huawei CPE Pro 2 to someone as it was locked. Despite this being pricey I knew it was going to be a quality product as it's GL.inet product. Some of the reviews make me laugh as they call them an unknown brand. They're a very well known brand in the networking world, especially in the OpenWRT world. The firmware used is a fork of OpenWRT with their own gui on top. The gui is very simple. I used the app for setup but could have used a laptop. Just as easy. It's a WiFi 6 AX device so speeds are solid for internal networking wirelessly. The Puli version has a battery backup, not this version. I didn't need it. I have used this in 3 different locations for my main internet with a Smarty SIM. 1 location, I was getting 300/80, another I was getting 700/100. And now I've moved I get 30/20. This uses a Quectel RM520N for it's 5g chip! Firmware can be upgraded. People have complained about ad guard not working, I'm afraid they don't understand how a DNS sinkhole works. It blocks most ads not all like a local browser add-on will block much more. GL.inet's implementation has allowed the plugin to work as it should. They have a list of VPN users built in if that's your thing or you can manually add your own one. The device is portable. I will only say that the power lead is too short and it should come with a 12v car charger too but didn't. I've given 5 stars as it truly is a premium and capable product. Has external antennas meaning I can connect them up to other antennas like Omni directional ones or replace them. Awaiting the Flint3 now

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Flawless Performance Under Pressure – The Backbone of Our Jujitsu Competition Tech Setup
We recently used the GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) router to run our Jujitsu competition, where we rely on Smoothcomp (online competition management and scoreboard software) — and this device was a total game-changer. We needed a router that could connect multiple laptops, provide stable internet access for both live scoring and admin use, and offer a reliable backup plan in case the venue’s Wi-Fi failed. The Spitz AX handled all of it effortlessly. 🔹 Real-World Use at a Busy Competition: The router connected all laptops to one central point via both wired and wireless connections. The Wi-Fi 6 capability meant no lag or dropout, even with high usage and a crowded hall. The dual-SIM support gave us peace of mind — we slotted in a primary Three 5G SIM with 500GB/month, and a second SIM as a backup. If anything went wrong with the main connection, we knew we had instant failover. 🔹 Simple Setup, Professional Reliability: Setup took less than 10 minutes — the web interface is intuitive, and it’s based on OpenWRT, so if you know what you’re doing, you can go deep on customisation. But even out of the box, it just works. The detachable antennas helped boost signal reception in a large sports venue with tricky coverage. 🔹 Features Built for Business: This isn’t your average consumer router. With OpenVPN, WireGuard support, and the ability to switch between multiple WANs, it’s built for security and flexibility. The MU-MIMO tech also helped maintain strong connections across several devices simultaneously. 🔹 What Could Be Better: It would be great if the power lead were a bit longer — we had to use an extension to position it centrally in the venue. Also, if you’re completely new to networking, the wealth of features could be a bit overwhelming — but it’s worth learning. Verdict: If you run events, travel with mission-critical internet needs, or just want a seriously reliable and flexible cellular router, the Spitz AX is worth every penny. It was the invisible hero of our event — keeping the tech running, scores updating, and stress levels low.

Excellent 5G router
After two weeks of using the GL Inet AX3000 router, I can confidently say it's exceeded my expectations. From the moment I set it up, which was a breeze, I've been consistently impressed by its performance and feature set. One of the standout features for me is its support for cellular 5G. Despite not being very close to the mast, I've experienced excellent signal strength throughout. This capability was a primary reason for my purchase, and it hasn't disappointed. But it's not just about 5G; the AX3000 offers multiple features that have proved invaluable in various scenarios. Whether I'm using it as a repeater to extend my network coverage, leveraging WAN failover for reliability, or balancing loads for optimal performance, it handles everything seamlessly. Moreover, the router's compact form factor belies its power. It's remarkable how many advanced features are packed into such a small device. Compared to other routers on the market, which often come with a hefty price tag and fewer capabilities, the AX3000 stands out as a cost-effective solution without compromising on functionality. However, it's not without its flaws. One notable inconvenience is the short length of the power supply wire. A longer 2-meter wire would be greatly appreciated, especially for users who need to position the router further from the power source. Another aspect that sets it apart is its compatibility with OpenWRT, a favorite among tech enthusiasts for its flexibility and customization options. With pre-installed plugins, the router becomes even more versatile, catering to a wide range of user needs. Overall, my experience with the GL Inet AX3000 has been nothing short of fantastic. It's reliable, feature-rich, and offers exceptional value for money. Whether you're a casual user looking for seamless connectivity or a tech aficionado craving customization options, this router ticks all the boxes. Highly recommended.

OK as 5G router but not all is perfect
As 5G router seems ok. The speeds are not higher that other models I own but it has some extra features like the 2 SIM slots that could be useful if you ready to pay double for keeping two sim card. I like the stability for the wifi that is very good with all my other glinet mini routers. What does not work properly is the traffic estimation on the SIM. Yes you can install additional plug in but then each time when you want to check you have to log into Luci interface. Now about the price that is way to high for what it offers. The initial price of 365 was acceptable compared to the 489 that currently sells. I did bought it on promotion but the promotion was not listing correctly. When I tried to add the promotion the displayed price was 435£ hence removed the Opal but they promised Promotion Available Receive 1 BUY X3000 GET SFT1200 free when you purchase 1 or more Qualifying items offered by GL.iNet Technologie. Not happy at all especially I bought before 9 gl inet products. Disappointed. I also believe the seller is removing the negative feedback so it keep the rating up based on amazon fulfillment. However since I did not received the promotion why you would delete the comments?

Excellent router with 1st class support
This router is a class above all others that I have tried. Admittedly, previous routers have been much cheaper but as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for * is certainly true in this case. Previous routers have achieved around 5 - 10 mbps download speed whilst this one achieves a fairly consistent 50 mbps and even up to 250 mbps. Now, this is in a remote location in Spain where occasionally the internet signal drops out completely which even the best router can do nothing about but fortunately this is rare. I was initially having problems where this router would not automatically reconnect after a dropout and contacted their technical support for assistance. They were quick to respond and assessed the router remotely to adjust settings and solve the issue. I now have a fantastic and reliable internet system from which I can monitor the camera security system from the UK.

All my internet connection issues are solved!
I've been looking for a 5G router for a while now and this one got my attention as it appeared to have more features than I'll ever need. And it does. It arrived next day and after popping in a SIM card and hitting their auto-configure button there was little left to do other than change the passwords. Initially the sim card would drop out but a reset would bring it back. After getting an immediate response from tech support they told me it might be a hardware issue and immediately swapped it out for another one. A few clicks later and I was up and running again. I only have 18 Mbps from my internet provider but am now getting a steady 100 Mbps via my EE SIM card in the GL-X3000 (Spitz AX). It's an unlimited data SIM which is capped at that speed and I could get faster speeds on an uncapped SIM but this is fine for me. I'm using the included window mount to get the best connectivity but I could hide the router away and use external antennas if need be. All in all I am really happy with the 5G router/modem. There are far more features that I will ever need (VPN/Ad blocking/file sharing etc) but it's nice to know they are there if I need them. I would certainly recommend this router as it is a great bit of kit and the support behind it is first class. I have so far used this router in my garden office, remote working in a hotel and in an Air BnB while on holiday. It will run on 12 volts and so will also work in the car, caravan, camper van or boat if need be. Nice to know I have quality fast internet everywhere! [Please note: The googley eyes in the attached photo do not come as standard and you will need to supply your own.] ;-)
