Plugged this in to my macbook and within a few seconds the drivers were automatically downloaded and installed and ready to go. I read instructions and was recording within about 5 min. This works amazing, I recorded about 40 hours of old 8mm and vhs video and now have it digitally recorded. Couldn't be more happy!

This item worked well converting 25 year old Video 8 tapes from a Sony Handicam digitally to a computer. Necessary hardware is included. The resulting video and audio quality were good. A good value for the price paid.

This device is not working for me on my macbook pro running TAHOE OS. It sees the driver in the SYSTEM REPORT however it does not allow me to switch from my QUICKTIME camera to this device by pressing "V" as specified in the instructions. I spoke with APPLE TECH support and they tried to help me through the steps and could not get it to activate. They thought maybe it is not compatible with the new software. At any rate it is NOT WORKING WITH MACBOOK PRO RUNNING TAHOE. or perhaps it is defective. I hope the company reaches out to me and explains what to do. Otherwise it is going back and this review will not be changed. ***REVISED--since my first review i found a great solution!! it does work great with the OBS third party software rather than the MAC's QUICKTIME. I recommend downloading the software. although that software is a little tricky to set up initially. i was lucky to have a friend walk me through it! maybe there is a youtube video explaining it. i raised the review to a 4 star

Quite satisfied with this little device. I was able to capture output from my Sony Handycam and recover some old travel tapes. The quality of the videos was clear, and the computer never lost connection.

Did not work well for my purposes. The video quality was not as good as I needed for my "higher end" project. Sent the unit back.

Easy to use and setup to my MAC computer. Digitized over 10 old tapes, a couple from the mid 1980’s. All tapes converted with only one tape slightly degraded in quality. The cost of this product is well worth it. I saved at least a hundred to two hundred dollars versus other products available on Amazon!

Worked perfect. Hooked it up to a 27 year old Sony camcorder to get the footage off of it on my computer. Video quality looks great. Connected instantly. I used OBS since I was already familiar with that software and had it up and running and transferring my footage in about 2 minutes.

This is a nice little device - works like a charm (used the OBS studio software). I had a ton of MiniDV tapes and I digitized them all using this tool and the recommended software. I bought the Elgato tool before (gave to my dad), this one does a better job for the fraction of the cost. Highly recommended!

I bought this after experiencing connection issues with a different brand. I wish I had this one all along. I just plugged it in and followed the instructions and it works. Nice, clear, stable picture. No flickering like the other brand I had previously. My use is monochrome so I can't speak for full colour capture.
