Deep Heat Projector, 80 Watt

I decided to buy this to fit in the vivarium of my Bearded Dragon. Because this species have very specific lighting requirements I did not want to use an incandescent bulb to heat the vivarium but ceramic bulbs don't generate the kind of temperatures needed during the daylight period. I decided to try this after reading some very good reviews and am really glad I did. This bulb (80w version) easily heats my Dragons viv (4ftx2ftxft) to the temperature it requires during the day whilst only emitting a very tiny amount of visible light which isn't noticable inside the enclousure. I have this linked to a day / night cycle thermostat so this bulb runs 24 hours a day without the need for night-time ceramic bulbs or any other heating source. The emitted light is so low that it is perfect for using at night so as not to disturb your reptile. The price of these bulbs is really good and they maintain a constant temperature when coupled with a good quality thermostat. Overall this product offers a superb 24 hour heating option at a very reasonable price and in my opinion is far superior to Mercury Vapour Bulbs especially for species that have specific lighting requirements! Great product for heating our leopard gecko's vivarium. Works well and gives off the heat we need it to. Used with dimming thermostat it means that we can have it on at a lower temperature overnight whilst the nights are cooler. Works well and would highly recommend.

Despite only being 80 W, the heat feels much stronger than the ceramic 'heat emitters'. My tortoise loves to bask under this in the evenings when the main light is off. It screws easily in a regular E27 socket which is what most reptile products use. Feels sturdy.

Amazing replacement for a old heat mat. This fully heats up their body and not just their belly. My gecko seems to love it and is much happier now. I thought it was abit expensive compared to other heating accessories. Additionally, to make sure your gecko does not over heat... I'd recommend buying a thermostat with this to ensure it switches off when reached the recommend temperature and turns on when drops below the recommended temperature. So, make sure to include this when added up the price as this is definitely needed to ensure the safety of your animal. Set up was fairly easy. I had to buy a bulb converter as the bulb fitting in my current tank is not the same. So, that was abit fiddly. I can't comment on durability for the long term as it's only been a few months but it all seems to be working great upto now.

Keeps temp right and no light perfect

Although the bulb was heating ok, After having the bulb for nearly a week there was still a strong burning smell coming from the bulb when 1st turned on in the mornings, I tried to contact the seller through Amazon and directly through their website but didn’t get a response so had to return it. It seems by the reviews it’s luck of the draw if you get a good one or not.

Absolutely love these. All my reptiles have been given the benefits of these heaters. Won’t spend pages raving about them. But they are quality made, last an age when used with a dimming thermostat and my animals enjoy them. Ditch the ceramic’s and the heat pads. Replace with these. Even belly heat animals will get the warmth they need and more positive benefits from these. Arcadia may have copied an older product by a different company but having used these too, I prefer the modern version Arcadia have introduced. Available in 50 and 80 watt increments on the correct stat they are suitable for any reptile, or even for birds /poultry livestock.

I use DHP from Arcadia in all of my enclosures, they work very well and last for a long time.
