Amazing yoga mat!
I absolutely love this mat. It’s OEKO-TEX certified and doesn’t come with any toxic smells when you first get it. You do have to “season it” or break it in with rubbing coarse sea salt when you first get it, but this mat is so much better than my previous mat. It’s a bit on the heavier side, compared to my previous mat, but totally worth the money.

Good mat, but consider a softer mat if you have pain.
More suited to a younger, less fragile beginner Yoga student. Is a bit too firm for this elderly, arthritic person. Will probably get a softer mat. But very sturdy, nonslip. This is more of a user problem than a mat problem.

Great mat. Supportive for joints.
I have been using this mat everyday for six months and it has only gotten better. Before this mat I had a Manduka eco mat for about ten years. It was great, but had lost a fight with a friends cat which had it showing its age. I also wanted something that would be a bit more supportive for my joints. I had been taking a special pad to class just for my knee. After purchasing this mat, I no longer need the extra pad. The mat does not seem much thicker than my old eco but the thing is, the pro mat hardly compresses under your weight. It stays thick and supportive. I am absolutely in love with it and knew we will have a long wonderful relationship. Ps- I use it in both hot and regular yoga classes. I find that for hot classes I need a towel so I don’t slip. But I don’t mind that. The mat is quite sticky in regular classes thou. I did not do the recommended break in with course salt. That may help with traction in hot classes

Nice Heavyweight Mat
I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Manduka Pro Yoga mat. I don’t really do yoga, but in my cabin, I have porcelain tile floors and I need something firm and non-slip for the exercises I do. The Manduka does not slip, or stretch when in use. It provides just the correct amount of padding, and it inspires confidence that this mat will outperform and outlast the yoga mats I’ve used in the past. Go for it!

Great mat, no carrier!
Love the mat, one of the best out there! But for the price, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t include a carrier.

Slippery
Horrible! Extremely slippery even after countless "salt treatments"(what a joke). Based on the reviews, I assume there was recently a major change in the product. Don't buy!!

It really is as good as the hype.
Have used this mat 3-4 times a week over the past year for Hot Yoga classes and it has held up beautifully. Also use for Ashtanga Yoga and does a wonderful job of providing support and cushion when practicing on top of a hardwood floor. After purchasing the first one, purchased another for my home practice. One potential issue is the weight of the mat. Due to it's density it is heavier than the typical yoga mat. I purchased a strap carrier and it makes it much easier to transport. Manduka also makes a lighter mat that is less dense and less expensive. If you practice on carpet, this mat may be better suited to your needs. If you practice often and/or on hard surfaces, this mat is well worth the cost.

I have to admit I was initially SO worried about this mat due to everyone comparing it to an ice rink. I’m a sweaty yogi and my old mat was a beat up lulu I held on too for too long. I decided on the manduka pro for 2 reasons 1. Longevity; 2. Hygiene. I don’t want to replace my mat every 4 years, and the closer cell technology was appealing as my lulu got pretty gross. Upon getting it, yes it was slippery. But I took a hard bristle brush and some degrease dish soap, scrubbed the hell out of it, hosed it off, then scrubbed with a dry towel. It’s just as sticky if not stickier than my lulu now. I didn’t want to do the salt method as it sounded long, messy and I’d have to buy the salt. I read this method worked for others, and it definitely does. Literally 30 min of work saved me a lengthy break in process. Some might think that’s ridiculous for a 180 dollar mat, but it’s worth it if I won’t have to replace this bad boy for a decade or more! On to the actual product: thick, heavy duty, and it will cushion my knees during practice nicely. Downward dog - no slippage (and I’m bad for that). Only downside are the dark, muted colours and lack of designs. They have some on their website a little nicer, but 204 pre tax was a bit much for my needs. Either way nice mat, and won’t deduct stars for a design I knowingly purchased. If you like a flashier mat , don’t want to do a break in process, or don’t mind replacing a mat every 3-4 years, this probably isn’t your mat (still love lulus!). Otherwise if you value longevity I would recommend this beast

Super quality. But bit expensive. I will still purchase this product again.
