Perfectly acceptable for most basic applications
This is actually quite a reasonably priced camera module. It's quite basic, but it does exactly what it says it will do at a reasonable price. The lens gives a pretty decently wide field of view, and it worked out of the box with OBS, so I would imagine it would work well with pretty much any other similar software. As a simple camera module, it's absolutely fine. I have a more expensive module (it cost over £100, way more than the £40 being asked for this) and while I would say that the image quality of this is not as good as that one (especially when the light gets a little lower), this is perfectly acceptable for most basic applications.

Good Camera For Project Use
It does what it says on the box without fuss. * MPEG offers reasonable image quality but for the best quality (although at a much lower framrate) use YUY2 instead. * Comes with a 1M USB lead. * Lens mounting thread is fairly standard and you can easily source ones with different focal lengths. Notes: * As with all cameras of this type, beware of getting dust/contamination on the sensor whern changing the lens. * You may need to tighten up the two screws holding the lens bracket to the PCB. I have a few of these cameras, and on some the screws were loose making getting a reliable focus difficult until I realised what the problem was. * The latest hardware does not match the image shown with the lens mounting being slightly longer and does not have a lens locking screw. The lens is 'fixed' in position by a waxy material that resists movement in the screw but still allows the focus to be changed. That means that if you need to change the lens (as I do) then you will need to source some more of the 'wax' or devise some other means of securing the lens in position.

Brilliant
These ELP camera modules are great. Using a 1080p one with a built in microphone for skype on a windows 10 machine, and another (cheaper) 1080p module in a 3d printer with a raspberry pi3 via MJPG Streamer. These cameras support native mjpg streaming so the raspberry pi 3 CPU utilisation while streaming 1080p30 is only around 10%, at around 70mbits going through the ethernet port. Unfortunately you can't set arbitrary frame rates or resolutions, only what's supported on the list. And you can't define the on-board image compression level. But this is standard. If you run a direct mjpg stream at 1080p30, your client hardware and connection will dictate the stream quality - and it will drop frames instead of dropping quality. You can of course use YUV mode where your host software can recompress the frames to whatever quality level it needs. The raspberry Pi usb port powers this no problem - it only draws about 200ma current. Low light performance is great for a camera module of this price. Sensor is obviously not as good as some compact video cameras nowadays but it beats a lot of webcams out there including ones that cost 2-3 times as much. It's very compact and can be shoehorned into small spaces (like 3d printers!). The outer part of the PCB board can be snapped off with pliers (it's designed this way), making it's footprint even smaller. The lens mount is a common standard so loads of lens options.

I thought that this was a great camera to use for raspberry pi projects. I created a motion sensing camera with this that when someone walks by it will snap a picture of them. This camera works great for taking pictures. I was also impressed with the picture quality that it gives. I would say that one draw back of it would have to be that you need external light since it does not do very well in low lit applications.

The lens gives a usefully wide field of view, and can be swapped for other M12 lenses if needed. Image quality is good. Works out of the box with supported resolutions.

Due to COVID-19, web cams are priced 3X their normal price and my application for a camera is OctoPi so I can keep an eye on my 3D printer, I don't need sound. So I opted for this camera. Horrible quality. Also, OctoPi isn't able to reduce the frame rate and I had to add `additional_brokenfps_usb_devices=("32e4:9230")` to `/boot/octopi.txt` in order to get it to work at all. The picture has green, horizontal lines that flash in and out at random places. Ugh. This rating form asks me to score its "Sheerness". Not sure what that is, so, average, I guess. The circuit board is pretty thin though, so, I guess 4 stars for "Thickness", lol. On the plus side, I tested it on Mac and on Linux and in both cases, no additional drivers were required. The fisheye lens adds a lot of distortion, but in my case, it allows me to see nearly the whole print bed, so, that's a plus. I literally would not use this camera for any other application and, TBH, once the pandemic passes and WebCam prices return to something resembling sanity, I'll likely replace this.

Awesome Camera. I was looking for a USB board camera that was Mac compatible for the lognest time and was so happy when I came across this. Works well on Mac OSX. Has the ability to switch between 1080p and 720p and the video feed is consistent and stable. The lens is a standard S mount lens and has a screw on the mount so you can fix the focus without worrying about it going out of focus.

Good quality but mjpeg colorspace does not work with some codecs
