Can the buzzer noise be muted?

Yes. The mute button is located at the bottom left of the remote.

Can 2 of these (16 buzzers in total) be linked to one remote? I am needing more than 8 to be connected for a larger group.

Thank you for your great question. There is a limitation of 8 channels on the remote. So normally, Channel 1 is synced to button 1, channel 2 is synced to button 2 and so on. However while it is not advertised/recommended, it is possible to run 16 buzzers on 1 remote. You will have to set up 2 buttons on 1 channel using the "mode reset" instruction in the packaging. So it will look like channel 1 is synced to button 1 and 2, channel 2 is synced to button 3 and 4.... so on..... The downside of this setup is: if you press button 1, channel 1(on the remote) gets triggered, so both button 1 and button 2 flashes and beeps(behaving like both of them buzzed in first). So it would work if button 1 and 2 players are on the same team, but if you need to identify who's first between button 1 and 2, you won't be able to (since they are both on channel 1). Does this system allow the second-fastest person to buzz in if the fastest person gets the question wrong?

Yes. When the first person get it wrong, simply press the yellow "continue" button on the remote. The first person's button will then be "locked out", the other 7 players will have a chance to buzzer in again. Then if the 2nd player answers wrong as well, you can press the "continue" button again. Now the 6 leftover players can have a go. and so on..... To have the best range of the system, make sure the remote have direct "line of sight" to the buttons. Similar to a TV remote, the buzzer system will not work through a wall.

Can you record your own sound for each buzzer?

No, the beeping sound is set, and it can also be muted. The system will identify which buzzer is first by flashing the buzzer lights and beeping. The remote will also display the winning buzzer number (1-8)
