An unmistakable and much needed adiditon to your salad!
Growing up in continental Europe, a pumpkin seed oil was an unmistakable addition to our lunch/dinner time salad. There are only a few countries in EU that produce good quality pumpkin seed oil - Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Romania. Moving to UK all them years ago, not having pumpkin seed oil on my menu was quite tough. What I found slightly odd was that many people in the UK eat veg out of a bag with a bit of caesar dressing or just plain boiled. Having it sent to me from abroad was helpful, but since that was on an occasional basis, it wasn't good enough. A couple of years ago, Amazon sellers finally made my day, and started selling a good quality oil (most of it before were mediocre brands as well as inflated prices). Styrian pumpkin seed oil is one of the few top class oil products from Austria. Taste, thickness, smell, colour, it's all there. I'm also glad to inform you that consistency of a product is 100%, have not received a bottle with oil being any different to the previous one. Here's an advice - Try not to put a ridiculous amount of it on your salad. It will be too greasy and strong. It's about adding a flavour to your salad, not drown it in. Remember, it is good on most type's of salad i.e. lettuce, white or red cabbage, tomato, cucumber, potato, beetroot, and more! Here's a thought - if you have lettuce, add fine cut garlic, pumpkin seed oil and cider vinegar. You can go a step further and add two hard boiled eggs nicely cut to that salad. Thank me later :) Most important to know, oil spoils quickly if not kept in the fridge or in an almost-fridge-cold dark room. As well as that, it doesn't last forever, so, use it within a month or two of opening and never, I repeat, never shake it! I recommend this product!

Lovely flavour price is worth it!
Like others have mentioned, I've also been to Croatia and we bought back freshly made pumpkin seed oil from a market in Zagreb, it was incredible, as is this oil. This is a lovely oil and I love nothing better than to use it as part of salad dressings. It's got that amazing deep nutty flavour that is so lush, but some people might not like the taste-it is pretty strong, so maybe use a small amount, maybe a teaspoon, mixed with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil? I usually add a tablespoon of this, and a tablespoon of extra virgin Greek olive oil, apple cider vinegar (plus other dry seasonings) for salad dressings, and it is so good and delicious. In fact since I've been introduced to pumpkin seed oil, I use it in every salad dressing I make at home-I don't care for ever omitting it, it's just too delicious to leave out! But I have to talk about the price-yes I know, good quality costs more, but there are cheaper versions out there that taste very similar to this, but this oil tastes much better, has a stronger flavour. I personally haven't kept it in the fridge, but instead in a cool and dry place with no bright lights, and the taste has not deteriorated. It looks black, but is very dark green, as pumpkin seed oil ought to look.

Gorgeous nutty taste, just like the oil I had on holiday in Croatia
We went on holiday to Croatia this year and our hotel had pumpkin oil on the buffet condiments table. Despite being initially put off by the black colour (it's actually a really dark green), I started using it on bread and salads and absolutely loved it. So unusual, so nutty! Should have bought a bottle whilst I was out there to bring back home. I was pleased to find I could order some on Amazon but didn't really know what to go for. I did a bit of research and discovered the best pumpkin seed oil comes from Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Hungary or Romania. Because of the positive reviews this Austrian product received, I decided to buy it, even though it was more expensive than others (I could see the cheaper products were not the same dark colour, and many reviews said they were flavourless). There is a Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil PGI seal which is protected by European laws. (and the seal indicates that the oil is first class quality). This has 2 'seals' on the packaging, although it is all in Austrian so I don't know what it says..... But it has won an award, so I knew it was probably going to be as good as that I had in Croatia. I was right and it is absolutely delicious. There is a BBE date on it of 03/25 (I bought it in Sept 24, so has a good shelf life ahead of it). Instructions say to keep in fridge once opened and consume within 3 months. I doubt it will last that long, it is so delicious.

Buying again
I was delighted with the quality of this oil and it didn't last long. It's expensive so I've had to wait a while before repurchasing but totally worth the money. Pumpkin seed oil is so good for you and tastes delicious 😋
