This 164-foot electric fence cable features a 12.5 gauge galvanized steel core with low 35 ohms/km resistance, double polyethylene insulation rated for 20,000 volts, and is designed for direct burial. Spooled on a plastic reel for easy handling, it’s ideal for high-power energizers and permanent underground or overground fence installations.

Money Saving Option For Electric Fence Underground Wire
This site was a MUCH more affordable option compared to buying these on electric fence company websites. I installed a timeless high-tensile electric fence and needed to run the wire connections under a 24-ft gate in my pasture. This did the trick. Would highly recommend. The spool the wire comes on his cheap plastic so don't be surprised if the spools don't hold up very long. I had to use a rod to insert into the spool to help unwind the wire when using. No big deal because the money I saved buying it here is all that mattered.

Does what it's supposed to do
Works like it's supposed to but didn't consider the length. I only really had about 30ft to travel with. I did bury the wire deep enough because I was using it to contain my pigs with an electric fence. It's nice to have an underground wire to avoid a tripping hazard or from farm animals chewing on the cables. Just need a little longer than 40ft.

Excellent lead wire
I install a lot of electric fencing, and a 12.5 gauge lead wire is essential to minimize voltage loss. To maintain your voltage to the fence, especially if the lead wire needs to be buried, a double-insulated wire must be used. I have tested this wire along with the more expensive name-brand wire and they are very comparable running approximately 10,000 volts. I detected virtually no lost voltage from the energizer to the connection point, even when buried. However, working with any brand 12.5 gauge double-insulated wire is quite frankly a royal PIA even though necessary. It's not intended for much contouring, so don't expect to 'bend' it to your wishes! It's VERY rigid and if you push it too much the aluminum wire will break. So not for use anywhere where a lot of flexibility is needed. This is mainly just to get your voltage from the source to the contact point, be that the poly wire or aluminum wire fence, either direct line or buried. For gates and other areas where flexibility is needed, you have to use a conductive bungee cord or coiled wire and those are not insulated.

Well insulated stiff fencing wire.
This wire is well insulated so it should hold up when buried short of you cutting it with a shovel or a really determined rodent. Wire is stiff and lays flat once unrolled which is great when you are using it but also means the spool is a spring that really wants to unwind. The packaging on mine was weird in that it was wrapped in plastic wrap with zip ties but all of the zip ties had been cut. So when I cut off the plastic the zip ties for decoration feel away and the wire started to unspool. So take a second when unwrapping it unless you are ready to put it in the ground.

Works great but is difficult to route/bend
I used this to install my bear fence and ran the high voltage wires from the fence charger about 30' to my fence. The wire is great quality and the insulation is thick and durable so will stand up to the weather. But it's really stiff and I had trouble routing it in a battery box. This is great wire but I wouldn't recommend it in a small control box or panel since it's tough to bend or route.

Does the job
My chickens are behind an electric fence that also has a feed shed running through it. I needed to keep the circuit intact to go around the shed and rejoin additional electric wire on the other side. This insulated wire does the trick. My shed is made of wood so I just went over the roof with this wire. I could've buried the wire (and may at a future date) but I wanted to see that it works first. And I'm busy/lazy so this works for me for now. The charge is strong on the far side of the shed after running through this insulated wire. I am pleased.

Hook up
I use an electric fence to deter Canadian geese and beavers from entering from the lake. It works quite well except the fence crosses above ground in areas not needing protection, just to complete the circuit from zone to zone. Since this is direct bury, I will be able to connect the zones underground and out of the way. The cable quality looks and feels like it will be durable. It appears on the outside diameter to be about the size of coax cable. The internal galvanized conductor is quite stiff but shouldn't be an issue after being buried.
