Great Steel
Worked great for my needs! To me, it seemed sufficiently annealed, though reading reviews I may have just gotten lucky on that. Hardened good in warmed canola oil, and very easy to blue for rust prevention. All in all, great value, easy to shape, and great for entry in to knife making. Our business plans to continue buying these for the time being.

Good stuff
I have 40+ years of professional metallurgy work and research. I have found ordering high carbon steels over the internet is usually an exercise in frustration. With the materials having an unknown carbon content, even inconsistent distribution making heat treat uneven. Not so with this order. The material is a delight. It is consistent and correct. I am well pleased. I Will be ordering more of this product in the future.

Good steal but not annealed
You will have to anneal this steel before trying to cut it. It is super hard. I had to put it in the forge and heat it to a glowing orange and then let it cool down until cool to touch. It is now ready to be worked. It makes great knives and is easy to harden. 4 stars only because it does not come annealed.

Not Annealed But Helpful seller
I'm sure this is fine steel but, as others have said, it's NOT annealed. If you send your blades out to be heat treated, and don't have the means to get this hot enough to anneal it, you will have problems. EDIT: The seller contacted me and offered a full refund, was very nice. I had already sent the steel back, but they were quick to reach out after my review, so I wanted to let everyone know. If you can anneal this, it was straight, clean steel.

Good steel. Not annealed.
Good 1095, don't try to do anything with it until you anneal it. Get it hot and bury in a metal bucket full of vermiculite (available in any garden center) overnight. Then you should easily be able to cut it with a hacksaw and file.

I initially noticed some minor warping, but though I could make it work. Now once I put a file to it, its hard as a chunk of quartz
