I'm wondering how this vacuum would work for small white dog hair on my couches and on my hardwood floors?

i just purchased this vacuum about 4 weeks ago and it is the best/ most powerfully suctioned vacuum I have owned! While the photo and description does not provide you a good idea of attachments, or suction options it comes with 2 attachments which work really well for removing dog hair from couches, and there are 2 buttons on the top of the vacuum. One is a power/on/off button and the second is button which controls whether or not the brush is rotating. (that role or round bar every vacuum has which spins around really fast to stimulate carpet fibers and pick up dirt) I have 3 pugs and this vacuum is awesome on hardwood.. This is the only vacuum I have owned which was truly designed to work on carpet and hard surfaces as you can switch the rotating brush off to vacuum hard surfaces. Vacuums I have had in the past have just blown pet hair around on hard surfaces because there was no option to turn off the rotating brush which would just stimulate the hair to move away from the vacuum rather than towards it. I hope this helps! Best vacuum purchase I have ever made and I will be buying Shark brand from here forward.

Does this have light and retractable cord?

It's a Basic Shark, no Light and no Retractable Cord.

How easy is it to empty the canister? I have to reach my hands inside of my Bissel to pull out the dog hair.

The canister is easy to clean. The canister is not huge, so if you did have to pull dog hair out. I don't see a problem. Your hand would not get stuck. We have dogs.
