Great, older computer fixed. I had thought it had been the hard drive or ram. Nope just every regular PC tower bluray burner drive that was bought new and put in ruined data and read very noisey with unread and ruined data coming out. So, with my older computer I got because wireless emissions that are not healthy get emitted from new computers cannot be shut off. This will definitely require a 2 to 5 foot extension for the usb cord. I am constructing a dedicated wood platform separate from the platform holding my pc tower up. The cord supplied would be useful for laptop use, I have discarded the laptop because wireless rf emissions cannot be shut off as well as the L.E.D. screen is no good, causing addiction and irreversible damage to the eyes. I had not wanted to deal with this company for the problems with the internal drives but it turned out I was mistaken and it was a failure of my PC tower only.

Works great! Burned many CD's. Wish the transfer rate was a little better, but that is probably the USB bus that makes it slow. Setup was easy. Plug 'n Play.

It's very quick to spin up the disc/read discs. I have not tried writing with it. Mostly, I watch blu-ray movies off of it, which it is very competent at. A little noisy, but a good trade off given the size and performance of it. Also, connect it directly with a usbc/usbc cable. I wouldn't use the usba adapter cable included in the package as that limits data transfer speed and power.

I bought this for a Birthday gift in August, just got it out , and it will not read. He tried multiple disk, will not read anything. I reached out to seller, no response. Buyer beware $150.00 dollar is a lot to throw away . Everything about it is easy to plug in to the Laptop. It is junk

My rating is actually 3.5. I use this on a Mac desktop and have no problems with it, unlike a less expensive LG I had to return because it ejected discs on whim, suggesting that its Mac compatibility was overrated. Unlike other external drives of its kind (and I've had 6 or 8 over the years), the clamshell design seems sturdy; no messing with flimsy drawers. It has one annoying performance quality, though: It's very noisy, making it hard to listen at a low level of sound. This varies from disc to disc, however, and sometimes the noise relents several tracks in on a disc. This might be disc stock compatibility. If you're choosing this as an alternative to paying for streaming, I would think twice if machine noise bothers you; but I don't think there are cheaper drives that will be as durable, and most of them are pretty noisy. I'd be more enthusiastic if this was under $100.
