Mag filter
This is a fantastic product does the job really well i had a new boiler fitted and after about 8 months there was a rumbling from the boiler at night when it came on. after installing this magnaclean and within about 4 weeks the noise has gone. At first i had to remove and clean the magnaclean filter every weeks which in itself it not difficult to do as isolation valves are supplied together with a spanner in the kit. Now i clean it approx 6 months it certainly removes the deposits the black sludge was thick at first but not its only a thin layer attached to the magnet plastic sleeve. Cheaper than calling out a plumber for a noisy boiler and works all year round. A spare "O" ring is supplied in the kit also which is nice of them.

Good replacement for older filter
Good to be able to still source this older Magnaclean Product. It has offset, rather than the newer inline, connectors. I now keep aspare unit so that I don't have to re-do the plumbing around the bolier. The original unit stareted to leak after about 12 years and new seals didn't entirely cure the prolem.

Great Product, but could be even better
After doing some research it appeared that the Magna Clean product was probably the best filter to use. This type of filter is more or less essential (as well as power flushing) if you have a modern combination boiler, which are arguably the most unreliable modern appliance in your household. They block out and stop particles and debris which occur from the pipes and radiators. These cause many issues and break downs in new boilers. It does the job of picking up and stopping the debris very well. The product could be improved in two ways - note to manufacturer 1. It would be good to have part of the outside of the filter transparent so that you could see how much debris is in the filter and whether it needs to be cleaned out. 2. The valves to open / shut the system are a little fiddly, so if you are not a handy man etc, you might want to change these to make it easier to turn on and off when you empty the filter.

Plumber stole my last one!!
Had my boiler moved recently and during the pipe disconnect and move, the plumber stole all the copper and my magna clean! These things are easy to install and definitely worth having on your system. You know it’s good when a registered plumber steals your 10 year old version!

A must have for new boilers
I install many boilers and would never complete the job without using a Magnaclean. They are easy to install and easy to service/clean every year so easy that many of my customers do it themselves on a 6 monthly basis until all the sludge has been removed. After power flushing a heating system until absolutely clean when I returned a month later to remove and examine the Magnaclean it had loads of sludge on the magnet which proves it's doing a good job in protecting the boiler and cleaning the system. Wish these were about years ago.

Good Buy
Having checked out other magnetic filters on the internet, I decided to buy the MagnaClean product based on the product reviews provided by Amazon and other sites. The only very minor criticism I have is that the fittings supplied are only sutable for mounting the filter into vertical pipes. As I could not do this and had to mount the filter into horizontal pipes I had to buy additional joints. After 2 months of use, I opened the filter which was straightforward as was the washing out and refitting of the filter. Needless to say that the filter had removed black particles from my central heating system, i.e. it works fine.

These are essential
I cannot recommend these highly enough. I've put these in my own houses a few times now, each time it's been added to an old system and I've been horrified at the quantity of lumps and sludge they pull out of the heating circuit the first few weeks/ months after they're added, I find it staggering the boilers and pumps were still running. If you have an old system that's not been running with inhibitor, you'll probably notice a significant difference in the speed at which radiators heat up once it's had a chance to clear out the oxides, in a new system it will help prevent accumulation of deposits, just remember to use inhibitor and clean the accumulated material off the magnet from time to time.
