Adult Syrian and owner both very happy
I just bought a Hamster Heaven for my new rescue Syrian Buttercup after reading the reviews here and on Hamster Central. Thought I would give my input. The cage is slightly over the recommended minimum for Syrian hamsters as given by the RSPCA which was the primary reason I chose it. The cage recommended by Pets at Home (Ferplast Laura) was much too small and Buttercup was bar-chewing like crazy after only 2 days. Pros -Spacious with a good tray depth for a decent amount of substrate and a selection of toys. It is a much larger cage than new hamster owners might be expecting so make sure you have enough flat space for it. -It seems sturdy, the base and cage sections clip on very firmly and the cage itself seems well constructed EXCEPT for one bar (see below) -The carry handles are very helpful, I'm not a big person so carrying this without the handles would be very difficult -Deep enough that the two different levels don't make the cage seem crowded and good space for any hanging toys -Large door is handy for getting Buttercup into her ball, she used to have to climb up to the door of her cage but now I can put the whole ball inside and she can climb in easily without me picking her up (we're not 100% cool with that yet!) -The tubes are a good addition for hamsters who enjoy them but it's also great that they can be removed without compromising the overall cage function, same with the penthouse -The selection of "extras" that come with the cage are good quality, the toilet is handy (if the little miss figures it out) and the water bottle works well -The wheel is good and it's an 8 inch instead of the 6.5 inch you normally see provided with cages. It's not silent but with a little lubrication it isn't very noisy and will do until I find a decent price on a quieter wheel. Cons -The cage was tricky enough to put together, I read some reviews here saying things like "How am I supposed to do this? I'm not an engineer!" And laughed a bit because I am actually a structural engineering graduate and so is my bf but we did take about 20 minutes to sort it all out (and cook dinner at the same time. Dinner suffered). The instructions on the Savic website aren't actually that helpful, we mostly used the picture. The most awkward thing was how hard it is to get the tubes together, the cage being so large makes it hard to manoeuvre. -The "ladders" are more like slides. Buttercup can't get a grip on them at all and doesn't use either of them. We put one of her old Ferplast tubes through the hole in the taller platform for her but she prefers to climb the bars up instead. I'm getting some bendy bridges to use so she doesn't have to. -I would have preferred the green shelf to be solid. The design looks interesting but there isn't that much useable space on it -The sunken food bowls are good for not tipping over but Buttercup preferred her old larger dish she could sit in to eat so I'm not using those either -The gap between the platforms is too large for her to stretch over but small enough that she thinks she can which has resulted in a few tumbles, it would be good to include some way of bridging that gap, I see online that a lot of people have made their own. I'm going to use a suspended ladder when it comes in the post. -The right angles in the tubing are a bit difficult for her to manage, she's not very large for a Syrian and used the curved Ferplast tubes no problem but she doesn't really like the 90degree-vertical-90degree set up. I might remove them as she doesn't seem to really enjoy them and I'm having visions of her getting stuck -One of the bars on the top penthouse door detached on one side with very little pressure. It's one of the top ones which is covered by the penthouse so it's not a huge issue but I did have to go around the rest of the cage checking there were no more bars that were going to come loose as she is a bar chewer sometimes. Overall I'm very pleased with the cage, the size more than makes up for the nitpicky things I've found and I got it for £59 which is more than reasonable and cheaper than a lot of places. It arrived very quickly and was well packaged.

The one to read!!!!!!
ok so here is the plus and negatives of this product, Plus 1. It is massive, your pet will love its new freedom, I already had a large cage or so I thought but this is the bad boy of cages. 2. Your pets has a choice of beds. 3. The wheel is big and I was worried about a free standing one but trust me when I say my pet is on it all night. Looking at it now I think he out grew his last one. 4. Nice and secure, You will read about the tubes coming open but on my one they are well held together. 5. Easy to interact with the pent house on top 6. Room for everything. I have a lots of toys in mine for him and he could never get bored. 7. Easy to clean 8. Doesn't cost a lot to clean out, Pets from Home do a small bag of chippings for £2.00 and I use 3/4 of it. Maybe £2.00 on bedding a week. No more than £15.00 a month Negatives. 1. You need to clean the pent house every other day at least as they will hide their food there, sleep there and go to the toilet there. I find it very easy though as he goes down the tube to play and I hoover it up and wipe down, before replacing the bedding. 2. It would have been nice if it had instructions but still only took me 45 minutes, and who reads instructions anyway. 3. He loved the toilet when he found it, but has never used it as a toilet as he uses the penthouse. All in all I love this cage, I don't feel guilty about leaving him for a day or two now. I saw it for £100 and wouldn't pay it but I got this for £59.99 and I am very very happy

Highly recommend this cage
Purchased this cage after a disappointing experience with a cheaper cage and have to say I'm glad we went for it. Although a little pricey, the quality is definitely up to standard and is relatively easy to put together, ignoring the occasional curse word. Tubes on the outside seem sturdy but our hamster is only a baby so will have to see how they withstand against and adult but I feel they will do just fine. The cage is simply huge and is perfect for a hamster from baby until adult so is worth it for not having the hassle of upgrading. Only issue was the water bottle leaked so ditched it for a new one. Wheel is large and stand alone so can be moved around the cage. Plenty of room for extra toys and lots of bedding so they can dig around around. I also showed this cage to my brother in law who owns a cage less than half this size and he is now purchasing his own. Hamster was in the cage for roughly 15 mins before discovering the penthouse, she loves it and has moved all her bedding in which makes getting her out easier, although there is a large double door on the front of the cage big enough to easily fit 2 hands in to get her out, even managed to fit her exercise ball in there to get her out easier still. Also penthouse can be easily removed and left off as the door is a proper cage door which blocks the hole up. One very happy hamster and 2 very happy kids :-)

Cage très spacieuse pour mon hamster. De plus elle est jolie, arrivée en parfait état et facile à monter grâce à la notice complète. Petit bémol les échelles en plastique glissent et mon hamster galère un peu. Sinon satisfaite de mon achat

This is going to be a LONG review just because I have a lot of good things to say about this cage!! And a few cons, of course. First, the PROS: I am first gonna start with how MASSIVE this cage is!!! In one of the pictures I compared my old cage to this new one, and the size difference is beyond comparison. I can't even believe that I had my poor Hammy Styles in that tiny cage for so long. Because my Hammy Styles is a white winter dwarf hamster, she had a little difficulty going up and down the tubes/tunnels when they were originally set up to match the manual, so i McGyver'ed it a little and made it so she can still access her green hideout but its more of a gradual incline, since she's so little :) But I was really happy to see that you can kinda set things up how you want to in order to best cater to your ham :') The little green hideaway at the top is great, Hammy isn't quite used to it yet but I'm sure that spot will eventually become a favorite nap spot. The green and pink floating levels are great, and I love that there are food bowls on each one AND a snuggly igloo, my Hammy LOVES them! I plan on adding a little wooden bridge to connect the two floors, just to add some extra fun for her. As for the green and pink "ladders" (slides), she did struggle a bit at first trying to go up, because they're steep and slippery, but after a few tries she got it! She's a little dwarf hamster and was able to get up the little ladders, so I don't see Syrians or larger sized hamsters having any problem with them. Because I didn't configure the tubes as the manual did, I closed off the two holes at the top of the cage using the caps that were provided with the package! (Love that they were included). I used some of the leftover tubes as toys on the bottom floor of the cage, and my Hammy couldn't be happier. The litter box is so cute, we're only on day 2 of the cage so Hammy hasn't quite started using it yet, but it's still a nice little nook. In one of the pictures I tried to get a good picture of Hammy but she's so excited about her new cage that she can't stop running around everywhere and exploring! (Hence the cute fluffy grey blur XD ) Now I know that this cage isn't totally perfect, so here are my CONS: The wheel is not great, just because the stand isn't high enough, so the wheel pushes into the bedding, making it impossible to spin. Because of this, I just used my old hamster wheel, but this isn't a big deal. I also used my old water bottle just because the one I had was better quality than the one in the package, but again, not a big deal. Also this one is IMPORTANT (!!!!): the big gate of the cage needs to be locked in TWO NOTCHES, not one. Having only one notch creates a big gap in the cage that could enable your ham to escape!! However, it's really easy to notice, and it almost becomes second nature putting the gate onto the second notch. This cage was a litttlleeeee frustrating to put together, but use a gentle hand and it's fine :) And it's totally worth it too!! Seeing how happy my little Hammy Styles is ALREADY makes this (expensive) purchase totally worth it :)) Go spoil your hammy!!!!

I've used the cages for 2 months and finally found a reason to write this review. 1. Delivery/Product Received I bought 2 cages for 2 dwarf hamsters.. and one of the cages came with the corner broken. Anyhows, I decided to keep it as it could be fixed with some glue. (Because Singapore's policy is to return the whole cage back to Amazon. Nahhhh.) 2. Ladders The ladders are wayyyy too steep/slippery for the hamsters to climb up in any way. I purchased woody bendy bridges to connect the platforms instead. Bye ladders. 3. Great accessories I loved that it came with the bowls, water bottle, hides, wheel and sandbath container. The wheel is definitely a good size for a dwarf, but will be too small for Syrians. It came with some sand too... but it seems too granular so I didn't use it. 4. Platforms As the platforms are not cordoned, especially the pink/purple one... well... I've noticed my hamsters falling off from it a couple of times. 5. Tunnels The tunnels are a little too steep for dwarves at first. But as they grew older and bigger, they finally managed to crawl up and it became their favourite sleeping spot. 6. THE JAILBREAK So this was what got me to write this review. This morning I realised that one of my hamster was sitting on the top of the cage, outside of the green hide. Thankfully I managed to get her back in the cage and she seemed relieve too. Initially I thought it managed to push its way out of the green hide, but it was actually very secured and locked in place. So I "molested" the cage and finally realised that it jailbreak through the hole(s) near the latches. Most of the other parts are pretty secured (for a dwarf, at least). Would think a Syrian mighttt be strong enough to push the grille down from the green hide. I came to read the other reviews again and realised I'm not the only one whose hamster jailbroke through those holes. So now I've taped up the hole and pushed the latch 2 bars in instead. 😮💨 ** Overall, its still a good cage. It provides ample ventilation (yknow, cause, Singapore) but the latch.... the latch!!!! Hopefully there will be further improvements to the cage!

The set up of the cage is a little tough as the instructions are not the most clear, but still was able to put it together pretty well. The cage is GREAT for a Syrian Hamster. The cage I had before was way too small which he did not like. He now loves his new cage as he has tons of room to run around and maneuver through. I'm writing this review not long after I had bought it so I haven't had to clean it yet, but I can imagine cleaning it will be tough considering there are many parts that would need to be taken apart. All in all it's a great cage, perfect for a Syrian Hamster, I would recommend to anyone who has one.
