No leaks where I used this!
Used this to seal the differentials on my Land Rover - works perfectly, as I expected it to do. It's specifically designed to seal compartments containing gear oil. I used Blue Hylomar - a good sealant, but not specific to gear oil sealing - on some other gearbox components & I do have a few small leaks. Well, it's a Land Rover, they do leak - but I think this Permatex Gear Oil sealer is most likely to minimize them! Recommended!

Too thick to come out of nozzle!
Too thick to come out of the tube. Believe me, I was standing on the tube at one point! Out of date stock?

Snelle levering, product doet wat het behoort te doen. Gebruikt voor de dichting van een differentieel huis van een BMW E46 sedan bij het vervangen van de rear diff bushing.

Fast shipping and worked like advertised. Did both front and rear differentials with some left in the tube's. No leaks

When you work on your differential, you must decide three things: gasket or no gasket, RTV or no RTV and which RTV is best? My preference is to first stick the gasket to the cover with a small bead of this RTV. Then, apply a small bead of this RTV to the differential housing. This way prevents an accidental transfer of RTV from the cover to the ring gear if the cover touches the gear. Using only the socket and your hand, tighten the bolts in a crisscrossing star pattern until they are as tight as you can get them. The RTV package says let it cure for 1 hour, so let it cure for 1 hour. Then, using a torque wrench, slowly increase the bolt torques using the star pattern until all bolts are properly torqued. Let it cure for 23 hours before introducing the gear oil. Following this approach, I have never had a leak. Nice product. Does what it says, but you must follow the instructions.

ThisPermatex sealant seems to do a really good job, it is thick and the caulking gun makes it easy to get the right amount especially when your hands are gooped up. lol It drys rather stiff, but not hard, and I think it will do a permanant job of sealing that expensive oil in my tractor. I just hope I won't have to remove it anytime soon. silicone.
