First, this paste is fantastic. There are a couple of brands in Hungary, and this is my favorite. Not too much difference in the "sweet" versus "hot", that is, it's not 'Thai food' hot. My recipe adds some additional pepper; adjust to taste. What I like best about this 4-pack is that the tubes are packed more tightly than in the 3-pack, so they are at less risk of shaking around and bursting.

Actually I bought these tubes for a friend's birthday. I am hopeful that the "hot" tubes are like Budapest's "Pista". My husband and my friend love hot, spicy things like pista although it is way too hot for me. In Budapest restaurants, as soon as one orders then the server brings bread and pista.

I first learned about this pepper paste when we visited Budapest...I took some home on a whim, but now I won't be without it. Use it wherever you use tomato paste; it adds vavoom to pasta sauces, soups, stews. Try it... You'll like it!
