I know nothing about watercolor painting, but my wife says this paper is great. It is a little tough to get the first couple of pages out as other reviewers have said. If your careful and use the tool it comes with the paper won't tear. Don't let this discourage you. It is still worth it because of the money you are saving on quality paper. My wife says it is very comparable to arches paper for a fraction of the price.

The size is perfect to carry along for outdoor sketching or color studies. The paper is cold pressed with a nice texture, allowing for a number of painting styles.

Baohong 100% cotton Academy student grade watercolor paper is right next to Arches. It's affordable and great for creating watercolor scenes of any kind. It is great for all mixed media. I get excited when I begin painting on cold press/acid free paper. Love it!!

Best watercolor paper I've tried so far. I know some people don't care for blocks but I love them. Not to mention having a block protects the rest of the paper. The paper definitely soaks up a lot of water and I use A LOT of water. I would purchase this again!
