Yes, all Q-BA-MAZE products on the market today are made by MindWare and are version 2.0 and compatible with one another. The earlier version ceased production in 2009.

Q: what size diameter are the steel balls?

They are 11.00mm in diameter. (This was a good excuse to use my caliper gauge.)

Q: Is this maze easy to take apart and put back together? We don't have a lot of space to set it up and leave it set up.

It's just like Legos. You can build one thing and easily take it down to build something else. They store pretty well in the box but it may my shut at the top when repacking.

Q: What add-on would you suggest for the q-ba maze big box? my grandson loves marble runs and does a great job of building.

There are 3 stunt sets which have accessory pieces only, no cubes. I think the best one is the Zoom Stunt Set. It has a vortex piece which is a classic marble run thing and breaks up the pace, and two tubes for sending the marbles on longer runs.
